I am having intermittent pain sharp under my right ribcage.  Wondering if this is my gallbladder?  Are there any tests to determine this?

Thanks
Chris

I had an abd. ultra sound to check my gall bladder. Some symptoms are severe pain after eating high fat foods.
25 Year old married female.  Diagnosed w/ CD 2 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD.

Yes, a meal high in fat usually preceeds that sort of pain. It often feels like a spasm.....starts out as a dull ache and increases then wanes again. sometimes it will stay and become quite unbearable. A typical attack can usually last 1 to 2 hours. Tylenol #3 will ease the pain, the codeine helps to relax the spasms.
An ultrasound will confirm gallbladder problems. Smaller stones are more of a problem than bigger ones. The smaller stones can make their way down the biliary duct and get lodged....cause a lot of problems.
Try to keep a little note pad of your symptoms and when they occur. If you do get severe chest pain, don't hesitate to make your way to the ER.
Hope you are feeling better soon Fitzy.
Let us know how you are doing.

Also indigestion and pain in the back and between the shoulder blades.

I have often thought that I had GB issues, but now I believe that it is pain coming from my colon.  If an ultrasound doesn't show stones, you can still have GB problems.  There is also a test called a HIDA scan, where they test whether your GB is functioning properly.
