I thought about this while running errands during my lunch the other day. Do you find yourself preferring certain restaurants or stores because you know its restroom location/condition?

I supposed this could be asked of anyone, but because of my CD, I find that I prefer certain places because of its restroom (simply due to the fact that I'll most likely need to use it before I leave).

You bet. No one want to have to use a dirty restroom. I have a mental log of every filthy restroom as well as the clean ones. When it come to restaurants, if they dont keep the restroom clean, what may be in the kitchen ???
If we would read the secret history of our enemies,we would find in each mans life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.

When I was a little girl, long before I was diagnosed, as soon as we would get to a restaurant, I would ask my mother to take me to the restroom. I would look around and then leave. I just needed to know where it was and what condition it was in. Looking back now, it seems a little like forshadowing. But now, my kids know that if they are with me, they will always be able to find a clean bathroom in a hurry. I know where all the good ones are. Even if I have never been to that particular store or whatever, I can usually find the restroom pretty quickly. There is a basic plan to the layout in every store so if you just follow your general sense you usually can find one fast. And fast is usually what we need.

Zanne!! ME TOO!! my mom used to laugh that I just wanted to "see" the restroom. And, my friends call me a bloodhound the way I find a bathroom. I was recently at an outdoor wedding w/ no bathrooms. It was a short ceremony. Well no bathrooms according to everyone else. I found one in less than a minute. We were on the water next to a college campus w/ a "hospitality center." I was in and out in less than 5. My husband was in awe. He thought that was one place (on the ocean) there would be NO bathroom. I laughed and said honey, there is never NO bathroom. There is at least always at tree.
25 Year old married female.  Diagnosed w/ CD 2 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD.
