I read that alot of people take fish oil for the anti-inflammatory results but there are so many companies out there.  Is Carlson's a good one?  Anyone know what to look for 'species specific'???
Another question is I am still having alot of diarrhea and it is clear the pentasa and entocort and rifaxmin aren't cutting it. They are waiting to figure out what to give me until I see the hepatologist on oct. 29th but in the meantime is there anything to take for the stomach pain.  It feels like someone is ripping my insides out.  I hate this feeling!!!  Is there anything that is non-narcotic so you can drive and still take care of your children?

yes, carlson is a good brand and they make good stuff. even though i dont use their brand for fish oil (i use garden of life), i'd recommend their norwegian cod liver oil. imho based on my research on this topic, a deep cold water fish oil like cod is the best. the others are second and third tier and some, like fish oil, are a blend of several kinds and dilutes the good stuff, hence its cheaper price.

as for your second question, energy drinks, coffee, and lots of sugar ;o) j/k.

I've been taking 1080mg of salmon oil for a long time and continue to take it during a flare up. I also take Alive multi vitamins, lutein for the eyes, extra calcium & D, glucosamine-chondroitin for the joints.  I like Swansons products. I also take, of course, the Liadal (like Asacol), Wellbutrin for depression and a herbal extract memory complex (hopefully to keep me intune).   This is my plan.   I guess everyone has to make their own plan according to their symptoms.

This last flare up sent me to the hospital, the blood count showed 90% within range. I was dehydrated but no deficiencies. I believe it's because of the above I take.

Can't answer the other question, but you're right - it fells like you want to turn inside out.

I buy my omegas 3-6-9 and vitamin A (fish oils) from puritans pride online, they ALWAYS have good sales and I've been purchasing from them for over 4 yrs now with no problems and I'm in Canada....I also buy my bee propolis from them (another excellent anti-inflammatory, you should google bee propolis to get more info on it, my GI thinks what it's done for me is great and encourages me to continue with it)....Probiotics are a must as well.

Here's a link regarding research and probiotics for IBD....just scroll to the top of the pg to read the article from the beginnin....

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)
