As usually I was feeling so well, to the point that I began questionning myself if I was ever sick or if it was just a bad dream.  So on Wednesday I decided to eat a delicious potato salad my mother makes with mayonnaise.  Yesterday morning, I had D once, and then bloating, like I couldn't get gas out.  That passed, and I began feeling hungry again, so I ate.  Today I feel like crap.  Gone to the bathroom 4 times already with D, it was like water, I mean you couldn't tell if I was peeing or pooping (sorry for being so graphic but it's the only place where I can describe my symptoms in details).  I also feel bloated like I ate a rock.  Do you think this could be an obstruction?  I don't have any pain whatsoever, just nausea and bloating.  Now I'm starting to feel hungry and nauseated at the same time!!

Hi Christina, Was there celery in the potato salad? Celery is a no no for us it is very hard to digest. I would also stay away from mayonnaise it can turn bad real fast if not refrigerated.

It could be a flare up, I wouldn't be too concerned if its a obstruction as it still got out of you.
You couldv'e been constipated at the time and it does happen sometimes. I've been what you've been thur and it sucks.
If you had an obstruction you would be throwing up, in pain and possbile fever. If you haven't gone crap in days I would be very concerned then.  See how the next few days are going for you. As well, it could've been the food too.

In my opinion it sounds like you ate something that really didn't agree with you. Potato salad is notorious for going bad quickly, could be that was your problem. Hope you get feeling better soon.

I often have poo thats liquid(like straight water), i don't worry about it, also i usually only pass gas while on the pot, very rare for me to pass gas normaly, not sure why but thats just me........as long as you are passing stool.....liquid or formed i would not worry, try gas-x for the bloating, that might help you pass more gas to relieve the bloating......take care...

Don't think it's an obstruction. My experience with obstructions (and I've had quite a few) are that they cause excrutiating pain, vomiting, and a very bloated, hard stomach. It could possibly be a partial, though, in which case you might want to try only liquids for a few days to see if it passes.

Hopefully, it was just what you ate and will pass quickly.

Hope you feel better soon.

Any time you have nausea, it could be related to at least a partial obstruction. Of course, mayo or any fat could pose a problem.

My daughter's first experience with an obstruction -- stricture in the terminal ileum -- caused nausea and vomiting, BUT she still made BMs.

The second time she flared, with the nausea and pain came pain, but  much milder, because when it happened she hadn't had anything to eat for a few hours. So she skipped dinner as the flare got worse, and the nausea was worse...but it never progressed to vomiting because she didn't eat or drink anything. For two days in the hospital, she couldn't even drink few sips of water without getting nausea...treated by anti nausea medication. So she never got to the point of throwing up.

Btw, she made BMs while in the hospital, too. So yes, it is possible to have an obstruction, or partial obstruction, and still pass gas and BMs.
