Flare not responding to Pred 20mg, Humira or Imuran.  Took the day off to rest and maintain liquid diet.  Phone call (on a Friday) to GI office...no response yet.  Lost 4 lbs. this week.  Sigh....Thanks for listening!  Looks like I'm gonna miss out on a local Civil War Ghost Walk hosted by our historical society this weekend.  Not to mention I had 2 FREE tickets!  Hisssssssss!  Somebody summon my monkeys...I'm too tired!

Sorry, that sounds like a lot of fun & darn interesting. Maybe you'll start feeling better unexpectedley or the meds will start working.

Sincerely,

I had a flare this week and doing a few days of liquids and soft foods really helped me. I hope it helps you as well.

I laid low this week but finally got the house cleaned today. The walk sounds interesting is it something you go to each year? What are the tickets for? Give it some time you will come around yah cain't keep a good witch down forever. I was just thinking I haven't got my Halloween decorations out yet. I always do lots of that. You cheered me up alot this week and it is great to have your sense of humour. How's the hubby and what is he been doing? lol gail

Broom, you don't sound like your old self. I hope you get to feeling better soon, without too much intervention. LOL

Thanks everyone, think the 20mg pred is kicking in today. GI called me back at 6:00 tonight! Can you believe it and on a Friday! Thinks the D is from all the antibiotics I had to take with the "wisdom tooth" thing caught up with me. However, if not feeling better by Wed., she wants stool samples and a test for C-Diff.

WS Gator-If it was in Gettysburg...I swear I'd wear a diaper to go!

Gail- The whole "ticketed" event started last night with a tour guided trip through our local 1800's Cedar Cemetary by our confederate greys, you know. Then tonight and Sat. night they open up all the historic homes and churches with guided tours decked out in halloween regala, spooks, etc.
Each year it's a different theme. Pretty cool and fun! I hosted one of the historic houses a couple of years ago myself. I was the ghost of Mary Sarrat (okay, WS...who was she)?

Hey broom, yea antibiotics can cause a flare for sure! Antibiotics hurt the intestinal flora and kill the bacteria we need to digest food.
Eventually it will cause inflammation of our intestines and BAM! If you can eat some probiotic yogurt, it will help big time and restore the good bacteria.  That's what I do when I gotta take antibiotics cause I know what will be coming if I don't.

Best of luck, and getting wisdom teeth out are fun huh? I loved poking my tongue on the empty socket after the few days, yea i'm weird but I'm used to pain, lol :)

Boy! If you EVER experience a dry socket from the blood clot in the socket busting loose you wouldn't play around poking your tongue in the socket ever again!!!!!! I've had TWO dry sockets and it sure wasn't from poking my tongue around in there!!! NO FUN! LOTS OF P-A-I-N!!! NO RELIEF by ANY means except to get that socket packed w/gauze saturated w/some pain reliever!

I sure am sorry you're missing your annual event, Broom!! That sucks. But am glad you seem to be starting to get some relief. (((hugs)))

Okay, I did eat lots of yogurt when I was on the antibiotics, eat it everyday. Just had NO idea it would hit me like this 2 weeks later! Up the probiotics to 3 a day and been drinking plenty of yogurt smoothies and stickin' strickly to mush food for the last couple of days. Slept a lot yesterday and today. The D has stopped, now if I can keep from getting a stricture. Still having lower back pain so I'm not lowering the pred more than 2.5mg for the next couple of days.

On a lighter note, I did make a little of the Ghost Walk tonight. Toured "The House of Wicca" house!
A confederate encampment complete with a field hospital reenactment and caught a 20 min. comedic play version of Gone with the Wind. Ironically the play was retitled as Out with the Wind! Boy, was I ever that way tonight! May lay a cannonball myself before the night is out! I lasted about 2 hours for the event and was too tired to go any further but at least that was "something"! Daughter treated me to a grilled cheese sandwich afterwards...man is solid food good! Did have to take a percocet when we got home so I guess I'm not far from bed. Hope everyone else is having a good evening and thanks for all the support through this! At least I don't think I'm leaning towards C-diff....now that is scary stuff!

Gail- Wow...I don't know what I did, but my daughter vacumed the whole house and my car out today! What a tremendous help!

Father in Law's home not directly affected by CA fires. He will be helping with relief efforts I'm sure.

Glad to hear you're feeling better too! I'm thinking of quitting the smokes again too. Have you tried Chantix. Works really well if you're tummy can tolerate it. I'm waiting for one of those freezing, raining days when I'm shivering outside and thinking how "stupid can I be" to be out in this for a cigarette. That usually starts my will power.
