Well for the past 20 years we have done a haunted house during trick or treat. I'm talking cast of 20 to 25 (friends and family) the entire basement and 2 car garage (we even have an extra door in our house just for thr haunted house) building of sets and fake walls, costumes galore, tons of scare. I sit at the end of the driveway and hand out the candy and keep the little ones company while the brave ones go through the haunted house (I also feed all the worker bees before and after, lasagna and cake, yum!). On our biggest night, we had about 500 trick or treaters in 3 hours. It takes weeks of planning and setting up and every year my husband says its the last year. BUT, this year I think he really means it. Next year, our youngest, who is a halloween baby, will be away at college, and she has really been pushing the haunted house the last few years so thats why he says this is it.

I love Halloween, second only to Christmas

A lovely colonoscopy on Tuesday! That's really spooky! The sad thing is, I was glad when he wanted to do it! I want him to see what's going on with me!

Since all my children are grown and my grandchildren now live in another state (sad face!) Halloween is not the same this year.
However, I did my usual decorating in front of my apartment and have my goodies ready for the trick or treaters. And, got a cute clown costume for my puppy's first halloween. Speaking of which, anyone know of a good puppy trainer? He's sooooo mischevous!!

Im having a party tomorrow night after a mock trial in the morning. If I decide to cheat and have a few adult beverages I will have earned them. On the real halloween I will be here doing homework. I never get trick or treaters but I always have candy just in case. Then my husband eats it all.

I already broke into the halloween candy. But just the charlston chews, no nuts. Usually I don't even like sweets, but once the candy is in the house, watch out!

My kids are too old to trick or treat, but they both have parties to go to. One is a lady bug and one is a bumble bee. They got them separately and didn't know what the other got. They are just tooooo much alike. But they look so cute in their costumes. I will have to get pictures tomorrow before they go out. Its much cuter than on Halloween when they will be all scary for the haunted house.

Hi Gail, I have an appointment with a crohn's specialist on Tuesday. Been there and done that before, but this is a new one. I'm hoping
like a new brush he'll sweep clean.
Trouble is, I have so many issues right now, I don't know whether to give him the full hit, or break him in slowly!!. I know it's halloween
but I don't want to frighten the life out of him, by behaving too badly!

Hi Zanne I went to a haunted house a couple of times and pretty near screamed my head off oh boy that really freaks me out I even had the spooks screaming it was totally crazy. One year I was even trying to kick my teens Dad because the spook came out at him. My poor sister pretty near jumped out of her head when a head popped out of a table. They really have a great one here but oh so scarry. Candy sounds good but I will be skipping most of that. lol gail

More stool samples & a test for C-Diff on Wednesday. Beat that!

One of my favorite "tricks" for halloween is to take some of the punch you make for your party and pour it in non-latex, non-powdered vinyl gloves "we all know the kind"! Add a couple of drops of coordinating food coloring (if you can handle it). Secure the wrist portion of the glove tightly with a rubber band and freeze.
Your frozen hand pops make a great "effect" for the punch and helps keep it cold. To remove the frozen hand pop from the glove, run it under cool water for a couple of seconds and cut away! Just remember if your punch is carbonated add the carbonated ingredients after the frozen hand pops! Oh yeah, and be careful not to form those fingers in obsene gestures (might offend your guests)! Feel free to transport one to your favorite GI in a cooler though (obsene gesture and all)!

Great costume idea for halloween, go as a baby wearing a diaper, easy for IBDers to make it as authentic as possible with a "full load".

A word of advice regarding costumes. One year when my children were 5 and 6 I thought I'd go as a giant pumpkin. so clever I thought!!!! I got one of those huge orange leaf bags, stuffed it with pillows etc...holes for arms and legs. ....green hat and face. ....I taped up my crutch with duct tape to make sure my stuffing didn't fall out.....not such a good idea for someone with CD. Not ten minutes out trick or treating that I had to run home and desperately, hysterically rip the duct tape off my whoo-hoo so the Great Pumpkin wouldn't poop her drawers!
My girls still think that was the greatest Halloween ever. Another year, I thought I'd play it safe and not wear a costume....just my poofy black winter coat....they told everyone I was going as a burnt marshmallow.
Enjoy your Halloween everyone!
