I have had long standing diarrhea for over 14 months now.  I have been diagnosed with crohns now for 2 months and we are still trying to find the right combo of meds to help.  In the meantime, my gums are taking a beating.  When I floss they are bleeding heavily and the floss slides under the tooth.  I am on pentassa, entocort and rifaximin.  Anyone have this happen to them?  Is it a vitamin deficiency?

Hi Chris no I never had that but it could be that you have a vittie problem with that D. Have you had your B-12 checked? What is your Dr. saying to do about them. Gee it sounds a bit painful with the flossing. Are you on any vitties. Having any signs of pus or redness? lol gail

Chris, with your long standing diarrhea, I would definitely get your B12 checked. My mouth & gums are the first things I notice when
my shot is due. I have them every 2 weeks. Best of luck

Hi Chris, I would have your B-12 checked. I give myself a B-12 injection once a month. It helps me.

My teeth slowly began crumbling, dental work didn't stay longer than a year prior to my dx. I'm with everyone else. Check your B12 and maybe a zinc supplement might help. Discuss both with your GI.
Meanwhile, I would do some warm salt water rinses to help with inflammed gums to help with the irritation.

Yes, don't let this go unattended. My teeth slowly began crumbling....I couldn't afford dental work as I had no coverage as was on disability. I ended up having to have what was left of my teeth all pulled. I now have to wear dentures. Not fun.
