Here's a question everyone wonders about...
They're on medication, things improve, no symptoms for a few weeks, and then they're back.
Does this mean we were in remission and then came out of it? Or the meds were just helping for a bit?
When i'm "fine" I'm good for a few weeks, then I get the D once in the day and then i'm "fine".
Slight cramps and pain but nothing too crazy.  Is that normal and means remission? I'm still trying to figure out what remission means.
From the period of Feb 2007 - June 2007 I was symptom free but with some cramps and gas, my take that was remission? I don't know.
So confused.  What's your experiences and when you know your in remission? :)

I don't know either. I want to know the same thing you do. Does remission possibly mean you can taper off the drugs? Does it mean being able to eat high fiber foods, nuts and popcorn without incident?

Hi To me remission is not having alot of D and pain and V. From about Feb . until about 6 weeks ago I have been pretty good. I got a bad cold while on pred.,Imuran and Rem. Then when I started the antobotics for my cold I srarted having lots of D and a few days of pain and V. Now just on the pred. I am not having many BM's but feel I should be going more then I am .I guess remission to me is long periods of feeling good with good BM's. lol gail

As I responded in your other post, I have good weeks and then a few bad days.  I would consider myself in remission.  But I really have to watch what I eat.  I think my bad days are because of having 2 resections and things don't always move quickly thru me and sometimes it upsets my stomach.  I try to stay on a low residue diet most of the time.  I will also have a few bad days when I get anxious about something.  Its not a flare, stress does not cause flares, but thats just how anxiety effects me.  If I take my Valium quickly when these times happen I can sometime stop it in its tracks.  But I do consider myself to be in remission.  At least I hope I am. LOL

God Bless

Hmmm...I've been wondering the same thing lately because before I was never having any good days. But now I'm about even with the good and the bad. I plan to ask my doctor this very question. Its so unpredictable and I never know how I'm going to feel from day to day. I try to take it one day at a time and think of things for the better. It's hard being sick and never knowing what to expect. Call your GI, and maybe they can tell you why you are experiencing this. I figured in remission I would have mostly good days, I guess I'm still in a flare but am just doing a little better on the Remicade. Who knows anymore?
