i am having pains something awful right now. the kind that make you break out in sweat. i also feel nauseous. it is now 6am, my procedure is at 2:30pm and i am not sure i should be taking vicodin because of the drugs they use for the procedure (same they use for the colonoscopy that made my blood pressure drop to 60/40 so i got to do my scope virtually without any pain meds >:/ yeah OUCH!). i might feel a bit naeseous cause i had to take my prednisone without food (nothing to eat after midnight yesterday). what to do what to do! my gi knows i have been averaging 1 or 2 vicodins daily, i would think he would have said something? i wish i could just sleep until it's time to go but that ain't happening! i gots me a whole 5 hours of tossing and turning last night. UGH. so, do you think i should tough this out not taking any pain meds? this sucks!

I could have clear liquids up to 4 hours before the test. If you have time, maybe drink some chicken broth. It might give you enough nutrients to take the medicine. I am one person who has to eat every couple of hours or I get really nauseous. I had an endoscopy about 3 weeks ago and thats what I did about 4 hours before the test and it really helped. I take 1/2 percoset about 3 times a day. I told the nurses before the endoscopy about this so that they would know I use them and said I usually need a little more meds during tests because I use this med. Be sure to let the nurse or doc know before your procedure about the meds you have taken today. Good luck.

thanks so much nanners! since my first wake up, i was able to take a little nap and surprisingly my pains feel better! except for feeling a bit hungry :/ i was told clear liquids up to 6 hours. i just downed my last glass of water (i drink about a gallon a day). hopefully the pains will hold off cause i don't think an empty belly is going to welcome vicodin too kindly. though if the pain does come back in the next hour or so i will try the chicken broth idea.

thanks ever so much :)
