Fibre....my GI told me to take fibre supplements daily for the rest of my life, this was over 4 yrs ago now and it was the best thing I could have done...

it has helped with so many issues...no more mucus, less frequency, completely formed BM's (sometimes when I wipe the TP is clean it comes out so formed), no more gas, no more bloating, I can eat all fibreous foods (salad, popcorn, fruits, all veggies) without getting gassy or bloated.

Fibre aids with D or C, it's important to drink plenty of water daily to avoid constipation as well as dehydration which us IBDers are prone to.

thanks guys ill do that. my GI actually told me to take benefiber to bulk things up becasue i was having so much D so i wasnt sure if taking it would help me with this C situation. its all very unsettling becasue this is what usually lands me in the hospital. alll becasue of the darn prednisone. i have no idea why it does this to me but i hit 20 mg and BAM i cant go. i mean its nice to not be going and having D all the time but this isnt good. so far (ok im going to get personal here im sorry) i didnt go monday, little on tues and none wed or today and i dont know what to do. usually if i go 4 days i call my GI and they say go to the ER. all they do is enemas, i wish i could just do that at home. but then again they give me pain meds and im in a lot of pain. im on pain meds already so i know im hurtin a lot if im feeling this much pain. oh well. ill take the benefiber and keep on with the colace and the miralax and hopefully it will work. thanks for the ideas and for not getting grossed out by my post.

Fibre is very necessary for intestinal function...unless you have an obstruction or strictures you should include fibre daily...if youhave strictures you still have to take in fibre but usually it's a low-fibre diet, still, fibre is very necessary for bowel function.

thanks guys. im taking the benefiber and the doc said its ok. i ended up getting glycerin suppositories to get things moving. until im back on a "schedule" thats what im gonna do. i hope upping the fiber, the water and eating a little bit more fibrous foods (i have a stricture, its 10 cm but its not too skinny so if im careful i can eat a bit as long as i eat that kind of stuff with a soulable fiber like bread or pasta) will work. at least somtimes im feeling like i have to go. i still am not on my own but , at least i am feeling it now.

anyhow thanks you guys for your help i really appreciate it
