I am 15 weeks pregnant and have been hospitatlized twice for crohnes flare up during this pregnancy.  Was put on 60 mg Prednisone,  still didn't get better.  Just tried out Remicaid a few days ago and seem to be doing better.

My question is does the SCD diet work or not work for you?  I have always been a carbs junkie.  I actually fear fruits and vegetables.  I have been pretty much on a liquid diet (since flare),  but I always have to nibble on a cracker or something.  I just never know what to do.

Thanks

Yes, it helped me... IMMENSELY. I was on it for the first 3 months of one of my pregnancies. It would be hard to maintain while pregnant - you need the carbs. BUT... maybe you can apply some of the main principles of it - eliminate most sugars (high fructose corn syrup) and cook all your veggies till they're soft. Eat a lot of the foods that are "SCD legal" and add in what you need to for being pregnant.

So, you did go ahead with the remicade? And it seems to be helping? I'm SOOOOOOOO glad to hear that. When is your next infusion?

Hi Stef.  I actually tried to eamil you twice.  It may have gone into your bulk mail.  Thanks so much for the tips.  I will try it out.  Eating can be such a scary thing with this disease.

I am not sure when my next infusion is.  I am actually trying out a new doctor this Wed.  My current doctor told me in my hospital when I was at my worst to eat whateer my heart desires and had no adice for me.

Basically avoid spicey foods because they will make your butt burn and might give you heartburn.  Avoid foods that make you hurt, you might not be able to eat veggies (even the most cooked) because the fiber might still irritate your gut. But experiment and see.
