So after I got out of the hospital the second time in June they switched me to Entocort. They did not tell me about the weight thing & that I would eat like a cow! I am off it now, and have been for a couple of months. But I am now bigger than I was before ever in my life!!! Before I was sick I was about 175ish and now im 185:( Its so sad, I was 135 in June, now 5 months later im 185, 50lbs in 5 months, what the hell??? I went to my womens doctor to get the implanon birth control put in & she weighed me and was like...."Oh my the scale must be broken, let me check it again" I said to her, nope its true im a hog I gained all that weight on my own sadly. :( Anyone else know what im going trough?

Although Entocort is supposed to have fewer systemic side effects, that's not the case for all of us. Weight gain and increased appetitie is a risk with ny form of steroid. Another possibility is that your intitial weight loss - down to 135 - was caused by disease activity which didn't allow you to properly absorb nutrients from the food you ate. Also, when we are sick, many of us don't eat enough due to nausea or pain and lose weight. Once we slide back into remission or get started on meds to relieve the disease activity, we gain that weight back.

I just went through an especially bad flare of AS and had awful joint pain, especially in my jaw. This resulted in 60mgs of pred a day and a 15+ pound weight gain. Now that I've tapered back to my usual dose of 20mgs a day, I am hoping that the weight will slowly slide off. I had recently lost 305 pounds and want to get back to that weight or lower.

Hi and yes I have gained the weight of four good sized turkeys. I have not allowed myself to get too depressed about it because I was so sick, but I am overweight now and am trying to cut the sweets. I am still on the pred. so dealing with the steriod problem . I have not weighed myself this week but had lost some by cutting sugar. Another thing is I am not doing as much house work so not moving around as much. I am about to soon get started doing more stuff to keep busy .So do you have any plans made to help with getting some weight off. Too late for me to wish for summer back now we are moving into winter here. The summer 's I get more yard work done which keeps me moving . OH well am going to put more thought into Xmas cleaning.lol gail

Hey Gail, thanks for your input. I have been thinking about getting a membership at a local yw, they are decently priced and my mom also wants to get one, so I do have a workout parnter. I just started a new job so I will have some money coming in to get it, hopefuly soon. I have always been bad at loosing weight though. I love food so much, its a terrible addiction I have haha. Anyways I just wish that I never had to go on the Entocort, the only reason I did was because I had thought that Pentasa made me all itchy, turns out I am on pentasa now again and im fine, ohwell.
