Hi my name is Kim. I am inquiring for my sister. Her general doctor hasn't done enough to find out what's wrong with her. I heard of CD on the tv and it sure sounds like a lot of her symptoms. For several years she has had pain in the right side of her abdomen, diarrhea, mucus in her stools, and can't eat alot of foods. It has gotten worse and now the pains are in her back and pains that shoot up between her shoulder blades. She seems to think the lower back pain is actually coming from her liver. Does anyone else have the back pain that I described? What's the difference in Ulcerative Colitis and CD? Like I said the doctor hasn't done enough to diagnose her. She had her gall bladder out over 2 years ago but it never fixed the problem. She said she had a CT of her abdomen over a year ago, but it didn't show anything. She has seen 2 GI's and they seem to be clueless. They really haven't done many test. I think mainly blood test. What kind of test should she insist to get? I'm convinced it's CD that she has. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Kim

Hi there.

I sometimes get back pain when my CD is at its worst, but only as a side effect of bad upper abdominal pain. .

Probably a colonoscopy would be the next best test...

Why does she think her pain is coming from her liver? If it's based only on location, the actual culprit can be tricky to figure out.

Best of luck to her and you.

Yes I get the back pain too. I think it might be referred pain from my intestines. I think she should ask for a referral to a Gastroenterologist (GI). The best tests to start with are the colonoscopy and Small Bowel Follow Thru. Good luck to you both.
