Thanksgiving wasn't a great day for me.  Blood, mucous, the whole nine.  I just got off the phone with my GI.  He's starting the pre-cert for Remicade, and in the meantime I'm back on 40mg of Pred.  Happy, happy day.

Actually, I am happy.  I've been trying to get him to give me Remicade for a couple of months now, and he's been dragging his feet.  Finally, the wheels are rolling.  I'm just less than thrilled to be back on the pred.  I just got OFF that stuff.  Again.  Please let the third time be the charm.

At least you are going to get over that now and yah the pred. hope it brings you around quick so you won't be on high dose long. So you are starting Rem .by this thread you sound pretty excited. It has helped lots of people with the CD.. So how long do you think it will take before the getting it starts? Since you will be pumped up on pred for awhile keep in touch and let us know how things are going. lol gail

I just heard back from the doctor.  It's a go for the Remicade.  And it's covered at 100%- no co-pay!  For joy!  For joy!  My first infusion is scheduled for Dec 5th.  The second will be the 19th, and the third will be some time in January.

And Gail- with or without Crohn's, I steer clear of turnips!  My grandmother served mashed turnips when I was a kid.  Blech!

I was in the hospital getting IV steriods/fluids all Thanksgiving week. I know how you feel about the doctors dragging their feet. Mine was all about starting me on the Humira, but of course, it takes months for them to do anything about it. I go to see him, and he gets me all excited that I'll be switching meds, but then he tells me that it's going to take awhile. They are finally going through the precertification process for the Humira. If I wouldn't have landed in the hospital, who knows how long it would have taken. I'm on 10 mg of prednisone right now, but I was on a very heavy dose in the hospital. I hate the way the prednisone makes me feel mentally, but I definitely notice a difference in the crampling and vomiting when I'm on it. I have so much more energy, and I feel like I can just keep going and going when I'm on it. I do find that it makes me have insomnia, which can really get on my nerves.

I hope the Remicade works out for you. I'll be glad to wean of the prednisone completely in a few weeks.

Diagnosed with Crohn's in 1995 at age 14.
Have used Prednisone, Flagyl, and Pentasa in the past.
Now on Imuran. Will probably be starting Humira soon.

No surgeries yet.
