Hi to all.....Hope you all had a great Holiday!
This is my first post, but have been following the forum for quite some time.
I have been on Humira now for about nine months and unfortunately I am not getting the great results some of you seem to.
I am in the middle of a flare up now, and I am wondering if and what options I have remaining........
I was on remicade for almost four years, which worked well at first, but eventually I built up an ammunity to it and it was no longer effective.
I read about Humira here on this site and told my doctor I wanted to try and he aggreed.....but results haven't even been close to results I had from remicade.
I had severe allergic reaction to Imuran and Entecort, so those are out, and I hate taking Prednisone although seems that may be my only option for getting flare up under control.
Anyone out there having tried both Remicade and Humira and been in same boat ???
Suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

I am sorry that you are having such trouble. I had not so great results with remicade and then developed an allergic reaction anyway. I got into a major flare after that and was put on a coctail of meds. It did make me better, and I started on Humira as I was getting better. The Humira has worked wonderfully for me. It did take about 3 months to work well though. How long have you been on it now? Maybe it will just take a while longer.

Hi Toolman,

You might be able to get yourself into the Orencia trial that's running globally right now. It'll probably depend on whether your local hospital still has places available for participants. (Each participating hospital is only allocated a certain number of places, and when they're gone, they're gone).

There's also the stem cell trial (Prochymal), which should be starting in 2008.

Good luck to you,

Ivy.
