How did it affect you? I just started taking it. I was on it for 3 days and my eyes became extremely blurry (more than they have been)and my asthma was exacerbated. But the biggest thing was my right leg/heel/skin was in extreme pain. The skin felt like I had bruises or a sunburn in different spots. The doctor told me to get off the drug but he didn't feel these things came from the Asacol. He said it's just other symptoms of your CD.

The day after I got off the leg felt so much better with just some residual heel (bottom of my foot) pain. Now, two days later, my joints all over my body are SUPER painful. I had some joint pain before but never like this. This is crazy. I'm thinking of trying the Asacol again but am worried about what it might really be doing to my body. I think it's highliy suspect that right after I use this drug my CD goes into overdrive. I seem to be having reactions to all the drugs I've tried, with the exacerbation of my asthma being the side effect most worrysome to the doc.
Dx'd CD in August 2007 - 42-yr-old wife and mom
Allergic to Entocort and Prednisone / Not sure what's next
Currently on Aciphex, probiotic, calcium and multi-vit; and Flovent (for asthma)

After taking just one dose of 4 pills a couple of hours later I broke out into a full body rash along with fever and chills and nausea...clearly I was severely allergic to it and any other 5ASA drugs.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

Hey Ohana- The same thing happened to me. I was on Asacol for about 8 days when one morning i woke up and my knees were so swollen i could barely walk. It was a weekend so i kep taking it and then the pain went down my calfs and heel just like yours. I couldn't make it from the bed to the bathroom. When i finally made it to the drs office he said he didn't know if it was from the asacol or from the crohns (?) He took me off and put me on prednisone and my legs felt better right away. I don't know what will happen when i stop them though. I'm allergic to lots of meds too and that was the first anti iflammatory i have tried. I was just dx 2 weeks ago. They want to try Humira, but knowing me i won't be able to tolerate it.What is the doctor going to do for you now?

I took it for about a month and a half and i had severe headaches with it and kept breaking out in hives. My head hurt so bad then that i was in tears and took everything out of the freezer to put on my head.It ended up that i couldnt take it due to my body being unable to break it down and i began to basically overdose on it.Since they took me off of it everything was much better.Everyone's body is different so just be careful.
