Hi sorry if this is a bit graphic. For about 3 months I have had a lump under the skin by my anus, it feels quite long and is the thickness of my finger, I can feel it for quite a way and would be about 4-6 inches in length that I can feel. It sticks out about half an inch by my anus and the skin is a darker colour - looks like a bruise. It doesn't really hurt except for a sort of stinging feeling but I am worried as it seems to be growing bigger.

I have been to my doctor and he didn't really seem to pay much attention to it and said it was a haemaroid (sp). I don't think it is as it seems to be too big but I have never seen a haemaroid before. Could this be a fistula or a skin tag? Anyone else have this sort of thing or any ideas what it might be?

Thanks in advance :)

I had a fistula that ran from my anus to just outside my vaginal opening (where it lumped up and turned purplish) I would at least have it checked out more thouroughly, left untreated they can get out of control and become quite painful and problematic.

Dx CD 2003 but probably had it 10 years prior

Dx Primary Sclerossing Cholangitis 2006

GB out '95, Appendix out '96, Kidney stent '02/stone removal '02, Resection '04, fistulectomy '06 2x, tubal '05

Currently on 100mg 6mp-50 mg,  and Remicade every 8 weeks, Ambien, predsnisone, humira

Here's a link that shows pictures of hemmies (first pic) and pics of peraianal crohns skin tags AKA: elephant ears (second pic)...maybe you could use the pics to help confirm or rule out what you might be dealing with.

i hate it when I hear that doctors don't seem to think much about these types of symptoms....would htey let their own doctor dismiss such a thing as unimportant? fistulas, hemmorhoids, skin tags, fissures, they are all in the category of the worst possible types of sores, wounds....so any doctor who doesn't think they are a big deal and to be dealt with aggresively is just a plain jerk!

Arghh.....

sorry, had to rant....i feel your pain....

maybe see if you can consult with a different GI or get a referral to a colorectal surgeon....
