It was a rough few weeks.  One week my SIL was in very bad car accident.  Cut out of the car, broken ribs, etc.  The owner of the restaurant where her accident was asked the rescue team if the could "hurry up, his customers are leaving"!!!
My brother had a heart attack at age 54!  He is scared becuase they found all the same circulatory issues that started my mothers downfall.  He had two blocked arteries in the cardiac area.  They are waiting to do them, but he has to have some in his legs.  My mom started with the leg issues.  Of course he smokes and has more than average drinks--he may be able to quit smoking, but I know he'll still have a couple of drinks each day.  He is my favorite brother, he just found a woman finally at age 54---we like her too!.  I am so sad to think I can lose another family member.  My brother is the one who found Mom in the end.
And on top of Dad just had another biopsy of skin cancer..this time his upper ear.
OK I am now finding the positive to keep my holiday spirits up.
When SIL had her accident, a stranger came over and held her hand until rescue personnel came.  A firefighter then stayed under the balnket while they cut up the car because she was getting scared and claustrophobic.  Thank you to these nice people.  SIL will be OK after some time to get ribs to heal.
My brother is more active than my Mom and I think he learned something from her so maybe he will take care of himself.  Dad is still active at just short of age 80---he even works overnight 3 nights at the McDonalds!  And I guess I didn't lose the genetics lottery---I have Dads guts and skin, but I don't have Moms circulatory and psoriasis issues.
It's getting better all the time....better, better, better (sing along if you like The Beatles)
Dx'd '90 (emergency rupture), symptoms ignored long before that, '03 fistulas and bad flagyl reactions, B12 weekly, Pentasa [until I surrender to the bigger meds]
I'm riding on the escalator of life....

Sorry to hear so much going on with your family. Will definetly keep you all in my prayers. And all I have to say about your Dad, is "Go Dad", what an inspiration.
