Just wondering if anyone takes Echinacea? I have some tea right now for my throat and they also make a blend with Echinacea and I have never taken that before.

Or maybe someone knows a site that I can check herbs that interact with medicines? I tried some but herbs don’t come up as a medicine….

Here is the brand I am using http://www.traditionalmedicinals.com/?title=seasonal+products

I am currently drinking the throat coat because I have laryngitis and it helps a lot! (someone with CD at work told me about slippery elm bark tea that she uses so I figured the throat coat would be safe because slippery elm is the main ingredient)

I am thinking of getting the seasonal tea sampler, (or at least the one with Echinacea) which has Throat Coat®, Organic Echinacea Plus®, Breathe Easy® & Gypsy Cold Care®

Thanks for your input!!!

Isn't echinacea an immune booster? That might counteract your Imuran --- I'd check with the pharmacy first.

Hi Karendee,
I use Echinacea to help my intestines with the ongoing inflammation. It's said that it's the natures antibiotica. It's also good when you've catched a cold, helping the immunesystem getting rid of it.
I am not sure if it boosts the immunesystem, then it _could_ be contraindicated imuran, which I think supresses the immunesystem. On the other hand, Echinacea as a tea could be so weak that it doesn't matter. Imuran is a heavy medication.

I had a Pharmacist recommend to me Echinacea and I beleive Golden Seal as a way to help avoid getting sick from plane travel. She swore by it, said she takes it whenever she travels and has prevented her getting colds, flu, etc. I googled Crohns and Echinacea and there were enough articles on it boosting your immune system and not to take if you have crohns that I decided not to risk it. Interestingly, there were also a few articles that said it was a good thing to take for Crohns.

I was told not to use ECHINACEA because of our immune systems working extra hard, etc. But honestly, all Dr's have different approaches and opinions. I would look in to it more. I do take things like it when traveling, around sick people, etc. I think that is a good idea. But I do not think it is that great as a daily supplement. But who knows. Brittany

I did the throat coat when I had a 20 day cold and lost my voice for 18 of those days.  I didn't do it until the last 4 days cause I forgot about it and wished that I had drank it sooner.  Um I asked the gi the same ? cause I also wanted to take EmergenC for extra vitamins with that and he said as long as I didn't do it EVERYDAY for forever that the occasional taking of it (like when you get sick) would be fine.

Just like love pink says.  All doctors have diff beliefs.
