Hi all,
This sort of has to go along whith when I was on TPN in the begining of November.  Ihad been on TPN before initially back in 87 when I was frost DX.  I was on it for a few days in Feb/March of 07 while recovering from my 2nd surgery.  At that time I was also on Pred so they were testing my blood sugar.  To my surprise most days I needed insulin...I was never tested when I was 8 back in 87 when I was on both pred and TPN.  I know numbness in hands and feet is a symptom of diabetes but that had not happened while I was in the hospital being checked.
Back on Nov 1 I was admitted to the hospital for the 5th time this year.  The following day I had a picc line placed since I was going to be on TPN to try and help my fistula heal.  I was not on pred this time so just my daily bloods ranin the morning.  My levels were really low which didnt surprise me since as long as I can remember if I dont have something to eat or drink in the morning I get shakey I even wake up that way some days.  The kitchen where I am is on the floor below me I am so dizzy some days I am lucky to have a mini fridge up here (we bought it when I started TPN to store it there)they warned me of the shakes in the morning after stopping the tpn...but like I said I have had that for many years without the TPN.  It just intensified it.  While I was on pred and tpn my blood levels were high so I needed insulin.....this time with no pred they were really low as they are most mornings but never to the point where I had to treat it.
I recall a couple of the days while I was on TPN my some of toes were numb I had been outside so I figured maybe I was just cold.  I took a nice hot shower kept bending them as you would if you had that pins and needles feeling when your foot falls asleep.  I also noticed that the numb toes were some of the ones in the middle of my foot 2 or 3 on my left foot I forget if any on my right were bothered.  The color of the nub toes was so pale. I even gently rubbed the numb toes and couldnt feel them.  This was a few weeks back.  I had the picc line pulled the 19th of november I ended up with picc line sepsis.  I still have the shakes in the morning as I did before the tpn but my toes were okay.  One toe today though when I was in the basement barefoot (it has a tile floor) had the same thing happen but to a much lesser degree got better faster today than when I was on the tpn.
Any ideas?
