I went to my Doctors today and I hadn’t gone to see him in ten years as he was not on my insurance most of them. He works at John Hopkins (what a great place with excellent patient service) and I went to see about getting a reversal and getting on the new drugs

Like Rimadal and Humira to see if I could live a life with out my illiostomy.

He looked at both stomas and said they look very good and the fact that I have been with out any meds for 10 years and no flair ups and the new meds the chances look good for me to get the reversal.

I ask him if the new meds help keep the fistulas at bay and he said yes 2/3 patients with

fistulas do well with containing them (anyone with first hand knowledge).

I got my blood work done today and on Jan 2nd I will have a up GI done and MRI.

He referred me to a Gastro/Colorectal surgeon that is going to look at my large intestine

and dilate my sphincter and check for colon cancer.

How is everyone doing with the new drugs and fisulas?

Dave

Fortunately I don't have any major fistula problems, but I have read some great success stories right here, with remicade and/or humira. I'm sure they will be along soon to tell you about it. I sure wish you luck and hope everything works well with your reversal.

Hi Dave Sounds great getting the reversal after 10 years didn't know they could do that, after that long wow. I did have a fistula that healed with Remicade it was from my abd. abcess surgery and I had another one . Whether or not that has healed I don't know .I had to go off the Remicade after 6 months but at least it spared me from surgery because the fistula healed. I might try Humuria I am not sure what I will do yet. it is great news for you and I bet you are excited to get the reversal done. Right now I am on the pred. and able to manage so far. Wishing you the best with your testing and keep us updated on how you are doing. lol gail

I had five fistula surgery's in 3 months in 1997 and this is how I was placed in the ileostomy do to loosing the battle to the fistulas so my main worry is not having to go to battle with the little pain in the arses.
