I was wondering what kind of pain meds doctors are willing to prescribe for Crohns. I have been having some pretty bad pain, but I'm not sure what to ask my doctor for. Any suggestions?

The first usual choice is Vicodin. I took that for years, but now have to take 1/2 Percoset twice a day to make it thru. If your GI won't prescribe them ask your PCP. And if your PCP gives you grief ask for a referral to a pain mgmt clinic, no one should have to suffer with Crohns pain.
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.

I think the pain meds take the edge off, never truly get rid of the pain. They make it manageable so you can have some semblance of a life.

I take a medicine called nulev. Its a tiny pill that you place on your tounge when u start to feel the pain and it makes your Digestive system relax and it helps take the pain away. I have been using it for a while and it has always helped me. My Crohns is Moderate and i have never had a reason or any strong medicines such as, Vicondin.
