Hi,

I am begging for suggestions of new doctors.  My current doctor is out of options.  (His last suggestion was TPN and i think i might try it but i want to be in a good hospital and he is just at Montgomery General).  I have been thru 3 doctors now in the past 20 years.  I need one that will try alternative things and is not just stuck with their typical treatment routines.  I want one that is very into research and new ideas.  I am a not responding to anything and havent now for over 2 years.  I have been on 6mp almost 6 months and nothing.  I also have done all the medications below 6mp as well as remicade.  Nothing is getting better.  I am starting acupuncture today.  Maybe that will help.  So, PLEASE if you have any suggestions, share them with me.  THANK YOU

Hello,

Well I don't know of any doctors for you.  I live in the Northern VA area and I have not found a good doctor over here yet.  Just thought I'd let you know in case you decided to venture a bit over here.  If you do find a good doc, let me know, and I'll let you know if I ever come across one.  I find the doctors around here have no motiviation for you if your not a quick fix.  They do not seem to care or to want to help.  I feel like a burden everytime I go to the doctor.

Not trying to be a downer, I hope you have better luck on that side of the bridge.

I am also in northern virgina and go to GW in DC. My docs are all part of the GW University system (a good thing because theyhave more opportunities to collaborate with collegues than docs in limited private practices. University's also tend to know about the new stuff). My GI is Allen Ginsberg and my colo-rectal surgeon if Bruce Orkin. I really like them both. Here is a link http://www.gwdocs.com/

I hope you find Docs that help you!

Is there not a good doctor at John Hopkins hospital?  I thought that was suppose to be a good place to go.  I actually thought about looking up a doctor there to go to for a second opinion.  I live in WV.

I've heard good things about JH but not about their GI department.  Too be honest though, I 've given up on finding a new doc. I can't take it emotionally at the moment.

Have you tried Metro Gastro Group? www.mggdocs.com It's a large practice with offices in chevy chase and DC. They also have a research group with many clinical trials for new medications. I have been in 5 trials myself. I see Dr Hardi, who heads the research group, but any in the practice would be good too.

I second besthoyboy's suggestion. Try JH. They tend to be up on the latest research. I'm seeing Dr. Peter Scudera in Fairfax, Va. Second GI in 3 years. Seen him twice. Not sure yet, but so far so good.

Hi

I'm in New England so I'm sorry to say that I don't have any referrals for you.  I went through the same experience you did, remicade and all.  I just kept searching for a doctor that I could connect with..and I did.  Keep at it.  You will too.

I am in Northern Virginia and have been using Dr. Peter Scudera for years. He is kind, compasionate, knowledgeable and willing to work with you to help plan in your care (as opposed to just dictating am approach and take it or leave it). He is always accessible through his nurse (I usually get a response to any question or concern with the same day) and always makes me fell like he has all the time in the world for me. He practices at Inova Fair Oaks and Fairfax Hospitals.

I would look into the Metropolitan Gastro Group (www.mggdocs.com) the local magazines always have half the office voted as the best gastro doctors in the area. They have three locations, Chevy chase, Bethesda and DC. I have seen Dr. Hardi a few times and like him because he gave me so many options and I have actually felt wonderful since I say him for the first time in April. His delivery is not for everyone as he is very direct. I have heard good things about all of the doctors. Hope this information helps.
