Hi there, I posted the following on the Ulcerative Colitis site this arvo, no response as yet (hasn't been long), but I guess in the back of my mind I am questioning my diagnosis. Diagnosed with UC, had extensive perianal disease, total colectomy, permanent ileostomy, fistulas since, interested in hearing from anyone with similar history

I had a total colectomy 6 years ago (for acute UC).  My GP has referred me to a Rheumatologist as for some time I have been experiencing what looked like OA.  It now is starting to look like Peripheral Arthritis.  Aching knees, ankles, balls of feet, shoulders, hands, swollen toes etc.  From my reading Peripheral Arthritis is associated with active IBD.  As I have had a total colectomy (for UC), I couldn't be having active ulcerative colitis?  My GP's plan is to send me back to my gastro after rheumy consultation.  QUESTION: Does any one else who has had a total colectomy for UC experience peripheral arthritis?  Many thanks Lulu x
