i finally got down to 5mgs and only have a few days left on that and i am done with my script. since last saturday i can not stay out of the bathroom! my gi wanted to have me increase to 20mgs because i was still have pain and some d and i told him i would call him if my symptoms got worse. well, problem is, i don't want to go back on the prednisone! i know that going to the bathroom 6-15 times every day for 9 days since my last taper has got to be a bad sign. i was still having the d a couple times a week but this is getting a bit ridiculous. should i just wait it out and see if the 6mp kicks in? what else can i do?!

:(

Maybe just go back up 5 mg. Maybe the little short boost will help to quiet things down. And then reduce 2.5 mg at a time. Sometimes we have to reduce at a slower rate. Hope you get feeling better soon.

When I first tapered from the dreaded prednisone, I went through very similar symptoms at about 5 MG and then it got worse once I stopped all together. GI put me back on 20 MG for 3 weeks and then tapered me only 2.5MG per week instead of 5MG. He also increased my dosage of 6MP. I just tapered from the prednisone on Sunday and so far, I am doing OK. Saying I didn't want to go back on the stuff is an understatement but hopefully that short term adjustment will lead to a Pred-free maintenance.

Good luck to you.
