Hi

I was just wondering if anyone else gets a feeling in their gut like they swallowed a rock.  That is what I am dealing with right now.  Since they took me off 6mp about 2 weeks ago I haven't felt good and I don't know if it is from going off the meds.  I am still waiting to go on remicade, hopefully soon.  But in the meantime my belly feels really heavy, I get a stomach ache almost everytime I eat, and I have been struggling with trying to do bm's and when I do they are usually skinny and it feels like a passed a brick.  I am scheduled for a colonoscopy in March but I called and talked to the nurse at the docs office and requested possibly moving it up just in case.  Anyone else ever dealt with the dreaded rock feeling?  Thanks for any help offered!!

hey runner43...I actually had a post exactly the same to this one about a few weeks back. I have basically that same feeling in my abdomen...Basically, I have a general heavy feeling that lessens when i eat better foods or just eat less period. My meds seem to help a bit (entocort and pentasa) so i figure its just part of the crohn's. Also, when i had a short course of prednisone for a skin rash my stomach heaviness was basically non existant...so just goes to show ya that it can improve with meds, and most likely the imuran was helping you. I have been kinda putting up with this 'heaviness' for like over a year, with varying severity...sometimes i hardly notice it at all...but after a big meal its there...hope this helps alittle

I feel heavy in the gut when I'm flaring. I have described it here before as a feeling like I'm walking around with a bowling ball in my intestines. It's a very sore, achy feeling. I was put on predisone about a month ago, and I tapered off because I just started Humira. I don't feel the "bowling ball" any more.
Diagnosed with Crohn's in 1995.
Have used Prednisone, Flagyl, Cipro, Pentasa, and Imuran in the past.
Currently on Humira.
One stricture in distal ileum.
No surgeries yet.

Without fail............................. everytime I eat something that's not been put through a seive, since my op and had my plumbing re-arranged.
I moan and groan through the night sometimes as it works its way through. I've had adhesions and they shudder at the thought of going back in with me, but anyway I'm done I'm not having anything, on me, in me, or up me. ;-)

I don't get the rock feeling. I get a vibration type feeling. Almost like I swallowed a cell phone on vibrate in my gut. It's doing it right now. Very annoying. I first thought it might be because of gas but it's not.

Vicky, I have that too!!!! Its in the problem area (low RLQ) and it vibrates. Almost like my gut was spasming rapidly, without pain. It feels very odd. I wondered if it was a nerve. It doesn't happen anywhere else but in this one area.

I also get the heavy feeling- I call it more like a feeling of pressure. This is what makes me feel crummy even though I have little actual pain and relatively normal bowel function (on pentasa)

diovan, simvastatin and now trying good ol' zoloft

I feel like I swallowed a cactus plant that is working slowly through my intestines...sometimes when I'm real bloated it feels heavy too.

Yes, I feel like I swallowed a cactus also...it hurts like the dickens until its made its way through. Its acutally woken me up from a sound sleep screaming. Scares the living daylights out of my poor daughters who come running..

first a rant: i HATE that heavy feeling. it doesn't even hurt that much, but it is such a nagging, constant ( when it's there ) low grade pain that can ruin my day. when i have it i feel like my posture isn't very good, i don't feel like working out, etc. also when i bring it up, my doc suggests a colonoscopy, which i refuse to get..its a really distinctive pain in the same place all the time, it's pretty common among crohn's patients, so i really dont think a colonoscopy would even provide very useful information.
