Hi all, I have fibromyalgia and have been on an antidepressant to help me get my stage 4 sleep which those with fibromyalgia don't get and need. I have been in Elavil for about 6 months and have recently gone off. I didn't think always always being hungry and never getting full was worth the other benefits. So I went off about 3 weeks ago and recently when I consulted a physician about my fatigue getting almost too bad to bear she said that all antidepressants wouldn't make you feel this way, hungry all the time that is. So I am curious which ones others have tried and haven't felt hungry on? I take such a low dose-20 mg- that it would effect me at all. I realize that everyones body chemistry is different and we all react differently but is there any out there that those of you have found for yourselves? thanks so much.

With myself I took Wellbutrin and was not hungry all of the time.
But,I have seen where others are blaming that med on gaining weight.

It might be a trial and error situation, where you are going to just have to try different meds until they find the right one.

Hi auroara,

I also have fibromyalgia. I know that elavil can make you gain weight. I wonder why they didn't have you try ambien for sleep. Also xanax helps with sleep and it is anti anxiety. Wellbutrin is good for depression, but sometimes it can make you nervous at a high dose. So like Shy said it can be trial and error until you find something that will work for you. I take effexor, which is a strong anti depressant. It is hard to go off of though if you try to stop. I also take abilify which has really helped me, but a high dose of that can interfere with sleep. So I would talk to the doctor and see if there is something else you can try. Elavil is suppose to help pain medications work better, that may be why the doctor tried that with you.

good luck
