Back from the Hospital

I failed at  trying to stay away from the bottle and so was hospitalised since last Tuesday. Not feeling good but had to come home because of my daughter. I am being put on a list for therapy and a few other stuff to help me cope. I feel numb right now but my thoughts right now are to stay in the present and leave the past there as I cannot change what happened then. I can control what I do now not what anyone else does or did back then. If I cannot go back to work so be it...I am not the first and wont be the last. I have shelter, no other medical complaints, one child that still cares about me, food, medication in all I have a lot to be grateful for.

Hi Getting There,

You are right, you have to stay in the present,(the now), and put the past behind you.  You do what you can for now.  I am sorry that you had to go to the hospital.  I know you were trying so hard.  Sometimes it takes some intervention or a change of some sort to be able to start fresh.  And that is what you are doing now. 

I hope that you will continue to post and let us know how you are doing.  I hope that you are feeling better.  I am glad that you are looking at the positive side of things.  You will be okay.  Just keep trying.  You are in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Karen is right... all you can do is take one day at a time. This is the key message in any therapy... whether it is CBT or AA. Please dont dwell on what has happened, but move on and live for the day. Everyone slips from time to time and you, me, Karen everyone. But dont let it get you down. We are all here for you.

Thanks to those who have responded so far. I am glad I can come here and share and you all understand. I am trying to remain positive and take small steps to get where I want to go.

Just keep taking those baby steps and you will eventually get there.  You have us to support you.

As everyone has said don't get yourself down because you slipped.

Part of depression is fighting it,and the battle is hard.

It's ok.

One of my personal philosophies is to live in the present, not the past, and not the future.
We've all done things or had things happen to us that depressed us.

Just remember we're all here for you and supporting you. Stay strong and remember that the past is yesterday...who cares! forget about it!
