confused  I am new to this forum. I am currently taking 20 mg of Celexa and The b-complex vitamins. I am looking for other suggestions of as far as different types of treatments besides prescribed medications. I am currently exploring vitamins and that is why my doctor put me on the b-complex vitamin. I am told I have a mild case of Depression. I was diagnosed a year ago. and I am finally starting to accept it. It has been hard because i feel it makes me weak and I feel I am a pretty strong person. I have contemplated seeing a therapist. I actually go see my dr tomorrow and will ask him if he could reccommend someone. I have 2 boys..5 and 2. I would like to say I am a good mom but i know I am not. I am a negative person. I constantly have negatives thoughts in my head. When i speak to my husband he says im looking to far into things. I just worry alot. I feel when i go to bed my mind is racing with thoughts. My main symptoms of depression when i am off my meds is not sleeping, aggravated, impatient and headaches. I dont have suicidal thoughts or mania or see things that are not there. Cant remember what that is called. I am an honest person. I am trying to deal with depression the best that i can and it seems lately it has just been harder than ever. I dont feel i have many people to talk to but my mom. My husband i think just wants his wife back to a "normal status" and i just dont think he cares as much as he says. so any feeback would be great. thank u. :-)

HI Want,

You have come to a good place, you can talk here without judgement. Vent when you need and hopefully give advice with your experiences. Have you started any counseling? That really helps and with your medications, you should be right as rain in no time.

I am happy that you found healing well, I find just being able to write things down helps. So keep posting and we will be here for you.

hugs, Karen

thanks Karen.
I will look into getting counseling. I do write in a journal. I have for over 8 years now. It helps sometimes but not all the time.
Thank you for your reply.

I journal too, but I find coming on the forum helps a lot too. So keep posting, sometimes it really puts things into perspective and you realize that you aren't the only one having a hard time. Many of us can relate to what you are going through. We are here for you.

Luv and hugs, Karen
PS I forgot to welcome you to healing well, I think you will find that you have come to a very good place. There are so many here who have gone through similar experiences. And everybody is kind and compassionate and do not pass judgement here. Good luck...

Hi there,

There are lots of different treatments for depression other than medications. As Karen has said, councilling is an option. There are a number of different 'talking therapies' out there depending on what kind of therapy is best suited to your situation and depression (For example: Cognitive behavioural Therapy - CBT, Rational Emotive behaviour Therapy - REBT etc...). Also, if your depression is seasonal or is affected by poor lighting, you can get light-boxes which simulate natural light. Also exercise and getting out in the sunshine get endorphines pumping round the body which can help alleviate depressive symptoms. The sunlight also helps your bidy process Vitamin D which will be a help to you.

That should be enough suggestions for you for the time being!

Darren

Hey Want,

I read your original post, and I saw a lot of myself in your post. (Not the whole mom with 2 sons, I'm 16! :)
But I too am taking Celexa, B-vitamins, AND some mix of folic acid and whatnot. Anyway, I know EXACTLY how you feel. It's creepy, but like i said, I see a LOT of me in that post. My meds don't work well for me, so when I'm feeling especially down, I write and I also try to get as much fresh air as I could possibly breathe. Have you ever sat down with your husband and talked about what you are going through? Talking helps, but then again, only with the right people... there are some people that you can talk to and they'll make everything worse, and then there are some who seem to radiate positiveness and you feel sooo much better.
I hope you feel better
