HI Tony,

Delihah is right, it does take a few weeks for the side effects to go away and for the medication to start working.

I want to welcome you to Healing Well, you will get more responses to your post soon I am sure. Just don't give up.

Hi Delilah,

How is your son doing? Have you been able to see the new doctor yet for a second opinion? I hope so. I hope that things are going well for you. Keep us posted.

hugs to you both, Karen

Hi there,

All I can really do is echo what has already been said. The side effects from the Fluoxetine may just be temporary and last a couple of weeks. If they persist longer than that I would see your doctor again and discuss it with him. Also, you will need to bear in mind that AD's take 4-6 weeks to take full effect so dont expect instant results or you will be disappointed. Keep talking to us and let us know how things go.

Darren

P.S Delilah... I too was wondering what the latest is on your son.

Tony, how are you feeling today? I hope that the side effects are leaving and you are not feeling as bad. I agree with the comments- I would suggest if you are not feeling better to call the doc. It is possible that you are allergic to the drug. It happened to me with 2 meds- I couldn't tolerate them. Keep us posted.

Hi Tony,

You may need to open capsule, empty half of capsul so you are getting half the dose. Try that for 4 or 5 days then resume pescribed dose.

I think you will be better dosing gradually and allowing yur body to become accustomed to it. Review plan with Dr.

Good Luck.

Hi there Tony2008

Welcome to HW :-)

For me fluoxetine was a life saver (literally)...took me about six weeks to get the full effect...had lots of counseling to help me along the way too - something you may wish to consider :-)

To put your mind at ease - if you are at all worried about your meds plz don't hesitate to ring your doc. and ask for information and advice.
