Hi everyone,
I woke up this morning feeling really crap. I dont know why,I was feeling not to bad the last 2 days but today I feel real depressed and anxious. I hate feeling like this.
I recently got a job ,its only on call when someones sick or on holidays, And its a ppersonal care attendant, you go and visit the elderly and people with disabilities who are still living at home and go and care for them, take them shopping and things like that and I think i'm a caring person so I hope I do really well and i think i'll enjoy it.So why do i feel bad, its frustrating and when i feel like this i think i'm going to fail and everything...
any advice....
p.s I hope everyone is having a great day

Hi Beci-Jane,

Well my dear, you can't possibly fail at everything so get that out of your head. You are not a failure at all. You just feel that way, you can change the way you feel and it is easy. But it takes practice...

You have to tell yourself that you are going to succeed. And you will. Don't worry about the past or the future, just live for the moment. Or as they say, in the now.

You must be a very kind and compassionate person to do the type of work that you do. And you sound like you are. I am sure that the elderly people will be so glad to have you help them. Especially when they are disabled. I use to do some in home care. Take them shopping, help them with meals and doing laundry, cleaning, etc. And it is a lot of work. But that takes a special kind of person and you sound like that person.

So keep posting, we will help you to believe in yourself. And if you can get counseling, that helps a lot. It never hurts to have the extra support. So chin up my dear, start believing in yourself. We do...

Hi Beci,

I think the important thing to do when you wake up and you feel like its gonna be a bad day is exercise. Exercise stimulates the release of endorphins into the blood stream and endorphins give you a feeling of "well-being". So try getting out and going for a run or going to the gym. If you can, try and stay outside as well since sunlight helps the body process vitamin D which is great for helping in the fight for depression.

Everyone has a guardian angel. They help pick you up when you fall, comfort you through your times of need and help you appreciate the times when things are going well.

Hi Beci,
It's horrible when you start the day on a downer! You need to do something like excersise to take your mind off feeling sad. Or even just go out for a walk, try and stop thinking for a while. I struggle to do this sometimes and feel overwhelmed by irrational thoughts, the best thing you can do is to definitely try and take your mind off it!
