My life is going really well...I have a great job, just got married, but I still feel this emptiness within me. I'm not a religious person, but I feel like there's gotta be a way to connect to something deeper. Any ideas?

It sounds to me like you need to do some soul searching. It sounds like you have goals and you're fulfilling them, but are you fulfilling them for the right reasons? I think you're looking for something but you just can't figure it out. Maybe if you explained how you feel just a little bit more, someone here could help.
Diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, Epstein-Barr virus, and severe depression. Have been on Prozac, cylexa, Effexor, and Wellbutrin. Currently, I'm dealing with my own issues, as well as a husband in a rehab, who also is being diagnosed with depression.

HI Anna,

Welcome to Healing Well. I think that you will come to find that the members here are very kind and compassionate and willing to listen. Have you thought about talking to a therapist? They are good at finding out what is causing you to feel the emptiness. Actually at this time you should be very happy. Having a great job and recently marrying sounds like you have a very exciting life. So it would be worth talking to somebody to find out what it is that is bothering you.

I hope that you find some answers
hugs, Karen

Hi Anna,

I believe there is something besides God that can help you to fill up that emptiness. Eckhart Tolle, the writer of a spiritual guide called the Power of Now, called it Being. It is too much to write down here, but he explains how you are connected to the Source. This Source provide you with the joy of Being, and will fill up your emptiness.

I can understand that this sounds a bit abstract or just plain stupid, but it makes a lot more sense if you read the book. If you don't feel like reading the book I mentioned, there are a lot more books on spiritual enlightenment, which will have the same result, but in a different way.

I hope this can help.

All the best!
Erik

Hi Anna

I too wanted to welcome you to the forum,as you can see there are alot of great and caring members on hear.

You have been given some great advice already.

I think that sometimes we loose ourselves, and also wake up one morning and decide that we want more for ourselves and our loved ones.

These things can be tackled, just taking it one day at a time, and not forgetting what we do love about our life.

anna and enwayne,
a book that has really helped me is called 'harmonic wealth' by james ray - mostly because it references all aspects of personhood, the five pillars of life - financial, relational, mental, physical, and spiritual - that are all needed to be happy, successful and whole. it has really helped me a lot and i'd recommend a read. there are some chapters posted at harmonicwealth.com/read

hi,annathe greenmom, sounds to me that you need a nudge towards getting on the right direction towards your spiritual path.have you thought about maybe doing a complementary therapy, like healing, reiki, aromatherapy or starting with something like yoga, pillates.youll find all are good for the soul and the mind.personally i began doin reiki to see what it was like,it opened so many doors for me,i feel filled a void id had for years .i had career ,husband and kids and still felt something was missing.ive grown so much personally and spiritually and see life from a different perspective.try it go for a session its good for relaxation ,stress relief .time for you.i appreciate so much more in life now.maybe its time to do something for yourself some you time.i hope this helps

Tigereye,

Would you explain a little about reiki to me? I am into meditation myself. Also getting a book that I ordered on Tai Chi. I am into that mind and body connection and clearing the mind.

thanks,
hugs, Karen...

Karen,

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. There has been an increase in the practice of this technique over the past years.  Finding a class is sometimes the hardest part.

I am sure others will have more to share.
Hugs
Kitt

to all and forum moderators,an explanation of reiki, its an ancient form of touch healing fromth buddhist traditions originally.reiki can be used in pysical and emotional ills, use don food and water etc to purify and strengthen medication ,supplements etc.it has been known to speed up broken bones, increase the recovery rate of strokes, and heart attacks,it has been  used on all illnesses and some research shows it s effects on things like cancer! i use it as a general boost for stress and depression.its a hea;ling system open to anyone wishing to learn it.it heals by-responding to the life force within all of us.when the flow of our life force is disrupted when we accept either consiously or unconsiously, negative thoughts or feelins about ourselves.these negative thoughts ofr feelings attach themselves to the energy field and cause disruption in the flow of life force.this diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the phsical body.

reiki hea;ls by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy.it raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the pysical body where the negative thoughts anfd feelings are attached.this causes negative energy to break apart and fall away.so then reiki clears ,straitens and heals the energy pathways thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natura; way.

the therapists attunes and meditates for a short while to the universal energy ,chi  ,ki or prana,or source available to all,i may use a series of hand positions to channel this eergy to my client ,i may also work off the body with  chakras ,enrgy centres or with a persons aura.i am guide d by intuition and a method called scanning.some therapists can pick up problem areas within and aroungd the body, sometimes chanelling healing to those areas.working  on a persons body allows me to help reshape the balances bringing about a state of relaxation and wellbeing.sessions quantity and duration vary from person to person.

finally reiki is available to all, regardless of color, race or religeon or faith or lack of it.any more queries let me know,im sure theres a few out there who have experienced ofr already practice  reiki.see yer, tigereye in the uk
