For a few months now i've been having nightmares to the point that i wake up sweating or just confused.  I started having visions in my head (even when i'm awake) of bad things happening to my kids or my husband then i will have a tightening in my chest and feel like i can't breathe and sometimes i will start to cry.  I will sometimes get the tightening and breathing problem with out the scary visions.  For a long time i haven't been able to be happy and have started yelling a lot at my kids and husband and get easily frustrated and confused and distracted.  I've lost interest in going places and doing things i love and stay home a lot.  I was put on zoloft after i had my first child but that was almost 6 yrs ago.  I stopped taking it and i'm starting to wonder if i have a chemical imbalance of some kind.  I don't have health insurance and our finances are keeping me from going to the dr.  I'm to the point now where i know i need help.  I just don' want people to think i'm weak or am seeking medication.  I just want to be "normal" again.  I feel like i'm too young to be this way and i feel like i'm short changing my kids by not being the mother i should be to them.

Hey Chrissy,
Sounds like anxiety is getting you too. you should definately seek help. THat wont make you weak. Especially if your doing it for your health so that you can take care of your family. I have the exact same problems and I am taking the generic form of Paxil. 40mg's a day. It has helped some. I'm only 19 (be 20 in July) and I've been married for almost three years and we have a two year old son. I have the nightmares and night sweats. It's like someone came in and poured hot water all over me. And the visions too. Very disturbing. I think I get them when I take sleeping pills and my Paxil. Which your probably not supposed to do. Not good advice at all. But you definately should seek help. THis site is an awsome place to find it. We all know a little of what your going through. Try checking out the Anxiety forums too. We can relate honey. I hope you feel better in the morning. Let me know! LOVE and HUGS!!!!!!

I agree... it sounds like an anxiety problem to me. Is there any way you can get to see the doctor using a financial aid package? I know they have them out in the states but I dont really understand much about them so perhaps one of our US mods or US members can help there. We certainly dont class people with problems here as weak.

Hey Chrisy
Just commenting on the financial aid. Have you tried to get a Medical Card? THey are for low income families and I think welfare too. I had one and my doctors visits and medicine was free. I live in Kentucky so I don't know where you are and if you can get one but I think they are available in other states. I'll see what I can find on the web for you. And don't feel bad if you do get one. I felt kinda cheap because I had to get one when I first got married, but that's what those people are there for. People, like us, that deserve and need help with medical expenses!!! LOVE!!!

Hi Chrissy

I have major anxiety and panic attacks, and they do affect my dreams too.

Do you have a State hospital there? Many of them have financial programs where you can get your visits and meds according to your income. Sometimes it is almost free.

Also, What about Walmart's $4 generic program that they have now?

I would check into right away..please let us know how you are doing.

thanks for all of your help. My only problem with assistance is most of the time we are right in the middle as far as income goes.....we make too much for assistance and not enough to get by. But i'll look into it. I thought about the $4 program at Wal mart. I just didn't know how silly i would look asking a dr to give me something off of it.... I appreciate u guys....it's nice to find someone who understands and doesn't think i'm doing this to myself. I don't make myself have the visions and anxiety attacks...they just happen...

Chrissy

We we know we need to get better, then we have to ask for help.
Your doctor is not going to care about that, just ask and get the help you need.

Keep us updated on how you are doing.

Don't worry about what other people think about you. You need help. You deserve help and we are all here telling you that you should seek out assistance if it is available to you regarding your income. You are young. Many of us have been around for a while. I am 56 and I have been in your place a time or two as have many other people. Experience tells you that there is nothing wrong with seeking help from wherever you can get it and good people won't judge you. Good people will want to help you, because most people are very caring, especially here on this forum.

Keep posting and tell us of how you are doing. I will pray for you Chrissy.  God bless you, your husband and your precious children.  Remember they all want you to be better.

Gentle Hugs,

Lindaloo

Chrissy,

That is great. Please do let us know how everything goes. Write a list of everything that you want to tell the doctor. If I don't write a list, I tend to forget things.

You are making a good decision. For yourself and your family. There is nothing to be ashamed of or afraid of. You just want help like everybody else here does. And now you are on your way.

Good luck Christina. And sometimes the doctor can give you samples of the medication to help.

hugs, Karen...
