Eej,

I just wrote down some quotes, some of them by me, some of them how I remember them. It's kinda how I try to live, maybe it can help you as well.

Some can be pretty vague, don't hesitate to ask what they mean if you don't understand.

Acceptance is the key.

The world is a reflection of the way you look at it. Smile at it, and it will smile back.

Expectations will eventually lead to disappointment.

The past can be sad, the future worrisome, so forget about it. Only wonder at whatever comes your way now.

You are the universe.

A room is not defined by its walls, but by the emptiness within.

Waiting is using the now to get in the future. You cannot be in the future, only in the now, so waiting is futile.

Can you hear the birds?

The now is a gift, that's why they call it present.

Focus.

Use the mind, not be the mind.

Erik,

I just had to add some of my own favorites:

Accept everything about yourself -- I mean everything, You are you and that is the beginning and the end -- no apologies, no regrets.
~
Clark Moustakas~

Acceptance of others, their looks, their behaviors, their beliefs, bring you an inner peace and tranquillity -- instead of anger and resentment
~

To be happy is to be able to become aware of oneself without fright.
~
Walter Benjamin~

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
~John F Kennedy~

"Great dreams... never even get out of the box. It takes an uncommon amount of guts to put your dreams on the line, to hold them up and say, "How good or how bad am I?" That's where courage comes in."
~Erma Bombeck~

"Keep your face in the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows."
~Helen Keller~

Find the good. It's all around you. Find it, showcase it and you'll start believing it. ~ Jesse Owens ~

To you Erik:

~May you always walk with Peace & Love~

Ooo, I have plenty of these! I've been keeping quotes for about 7 years.

"Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity."

"Don't ever be afraid to admit you were wrong. It's like saying you're wiser today than you were yesterday."

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."-Ralph Waldo Emerson

"All of our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them."-Walt Disney

"Just don't give up trying to do what you reallly want to do. Where there's love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong."-Ella Fitzgerald

"I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I ended up where I intended to be."-Douglas Adams

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."-Dr. Suess

"Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes."-Mark Twain

"You can never plan the future by the past."

"All things come to those who wait."

"With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts."-Elanor Roosevelt

"Big people monopolize the listening, small people monopolize the talking."

"Trying times are not the times to stop trying."-R. Owen

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."-Martin Luther King Jr.

Thanks for this thread, Erik. I haven't looked at these quotes in a long time.

Here are some that I like -

"Content makes poor men rich, discontentment makes rich men poor" (Benjamin Franklin)
"Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in harmony" (Mahatma Gandhi)
It is with our passions as it is with fire and water, they are good servants, but bad masters" (Aesop)

"The Optimist sees the rose and not its thorns; the pessimist stares at the thorns, oblivious of the rose."

The secret to happiness God never
hid from us...because everything
we need to be happy, He placed
in the palm of our hands.

If you look there and see nothing.
then look again. For in them
lies the handshake of a good friend,
the wear and tear of a job well done,
the joy that is felt when helping
others, and the warmth that comes
from holding the ones you love.

hugs, Karen...
