Dark Armor, Light Bright

Dark skies, Dark trees
Dark earth, dark me.
Dark towers against starless skies,
Dark moon with no disguise
Dark Panthers, Wolves, and Bears
Pace a dark forest to add to my cares

Every shadow a worry, every shadow a fear,
Every fear a shadow come near.
Every sadness a graceless weight
Every move an unknown Fate.

Dark weapons draw them near
Seeking the careworn face of tears.
Dark light shone from the door
They move closer, seeking more.

Silver lining, silver shot
Called forth with a single thought
Find a path, Find a way
Scared to leave, death to stay

A beloved guide in the dark
A solitary spark
Thread me on, Coax me forward
Help me, lead me lightward.

With each word, with each tear
An inch forward, another candle nearer
With each pill, with each step,
Further out, further crep'.

Look up, Look out:
Light's come about.

Run and hide, or burn alive
Into the shadows, dive, dive!

Stop, wait, halt, hold form,
The sun's only a bit warm.
Enjoy it, Relax a bit,
See? No burns to wit.

Light and bright
Scarlet auras and eyelids tight
Slowly open, mite by mite
This in nice, this is right.

Normalcy returns, life begins anew,
Don't you forget what to do!
A smile, a grin,
A spark to not hold in.

Darkness tries to return,
Too known to spurn
In and out, now on the lit path,
Now in a shadowed swathe.

Slowly, Slowly, yet Solid and Stolid
Two steps forward, one slip backw'd
Inch by inch, foot by foot
Laboriously crawling forward over each root.

Stand up to take stock and look about
Where is it, that forest of shadow and Doubt
Always just behind the last ridge
Just beyond the past bridge

Constant uphill climb, constant battle
Enough for bones and minds to rattle.
Amid no weakness, admit no frailty
Pledge depression no fealty.

Knight in brilliant, shining, tungsten armor
Dark cat with teeth and claws to gore
Battle to the end, the final day
Sword and tooth, claw and metal
Claws shatter and teeth fall where they may
No question on which side to settle.
