I have back yard neighbors who treat their dogs poorly. I call the SPCA, PACCA, PAWS and Police about it. They do nothing about the neglect because of the way they investigate it, they give them warning that they're coming before they look at the dogs and the owner of the dogs clean everything up and hide the evidence. So, it makes me look like I'm crazy. The dogs have got to be half dead, shot, broken bones or set on fire for anything to be done.
No, I'm not crazy. The dogs are being chained up on chains too short, crated outside for over 38 hours and treated badly in general. No pets or love-just yelling and screaming and being mean to them.
They hate me cause I call the police and tell them that they're mean to their dogs andI tell them to their faces that they're mean to their dogs. They tell me to mind my own business. How can I when the poor dogs are suffering? They compare me being upset about their dogs being crated with their having issues with Ivy growing on my house. There's a huge difference between the two.
Anyway, I feel like I'm being treated like I'm the bad guy. Like I'm the one who's doing something wrong. Why is that? It's making me very depressed.

Hi Sad Snoopy: Neat name ! I rescue German Shepherd and Doberman Dogs. ( K9 Partners For Life ) in New Jersey. I hear and see what You indicated weekly and it is so sad. Can You video or take photo's ?? We have really good experience's with just calling the local police especially the K9 Unit as we have found in our area most of our law enforcement are Dog and Cat lovers and we let the Police contact Animal Welfare. plus having a law enforcement officer go to the home helps more than our Animal Welfare Officers. If You video and take photos You can prove what is going on. Hopefully this brightens Your day ? if You need more help please feel free to PM me. Tom

Hi Snoopy,

I am a dog lover too and go through the same thing with my neighbors. Though here they don't call, they just show up. I have called more than once, finally they got rid of the dog, but now have a mastiff. So far they have been pretty good to it.

I have two dogs myself, a german shepard and an australian cattledog mix. That coincidently I saved from my same neighbor. she has pittbull in her and that is the only reason they got her. She is a sweet dog. I have had her for 11 years now.

Tom,
It is wonderful that you rescue dogs. I am so happy for that. I love both breeds.

Have a good day you guys.
hugs, Karen

Hey snoopy, I am a pet lover too...............I have a Dobie and my daughter does rescue too.

The pictures sound like the best advice as pictures don't lie.  Anyway you can get pictures.  How about another neighbor to back up you story?

I would go with the police too as it is true they work with the K-9s.

You are doing the right thing and do you really care if this person hates you?

Take care
Kitt

Like everyone here, I am also a dog lover and would love a German Shepherd one day. Animal cruelty is so sad because the animals (Whether they are small like rats or big like horses) cant speak for them selves and they have to rely on people like you to help them.

Taking pics/vids is a great way to try and urge the police to do something about it. Here in the UK, animal cruelty is taken very seriously (We are a nation of animal lovers!) and the RSPCA simply turn up at the house and even have the power to remove the animal without notice or warning. Please keep trying... you will win eventually.

P.S Your definately not the bad guy here!
Everyone has a guardian angel. They help pick you up when you fall, comfort you through your times of need and help you appreciate the times when things are going well.

people get really defensive about their animals sometimes; one of my best friends kept her dog tied up outside with only one bowl of water a day. with no shade in their backyard and temps up to 100 i'd say that's torture. i never called anyone on them though because, as proven by your experiences, it's very hard to get something done about animal cruelty unless it's an evidently extreme case. i'm sorry about your luck and i wish i could do something to help. why not ask if you could maybe take their dogs on a walk for them, give them special attention, treats or something.
to suffer is not enough.
