I really thought that i was going to be ok but I now think I never really will be ok   I just can't take this feeling of loss of hope.    try to be happy and have short burst of joy but it quickly fades and I am once again inside my head --obsessing--freaking--crying--   I know i need meds but i am so afraid that they won't really work  and I will have to fight the urge to hoard them .  I know that if this stays like this once my kids are grown and on there own I will not beable to keep going.  I have always been sort ofa health nut but thee is a part of me that wants me to do allthe unhealthy stuff

I am sorry that I had to edit your post how to, but it was on the vurge of sounding suicidal. Here are some resources for you:

National Suicide Hotline
1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433)
This is a combined network of the Amerian Association of Suicidology, the National Hopeline Network, CONTACT USA, and many other organizations. Call are automatically routed to the nearest crisis center to the phone from which the call for help is placed.

Helpful Web Sites:
Suicide Hotlines (listed by state)
Suicidal.com (includes Suicide Crisis Center and Depression and Suicide)
SuicidalTeens.com

I hope that this helps. I really think that you need to talk to the doctor and get counseling and tell them how you are feeling. IN the meantime we are here for you, but please seek help.

Luv and hugs, Karen...

how to stop the pain

Hello, this is Kitt. Karen has provided you with numbers for you to utilize as you are in need of professional counseling and we are not professionals.
Due to the anonymity of the site and the fact that this is a peer support group and not responsible for calling any authority on any member that threatens suicide, we strongly encourage members to call the hotlines, 911, a family member or a friend, or to check themselves in to the local hospital emergency room.

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Depression is a treatable disease, please seek professional  help and know we will support you in your journey toward healing.

Hugs
Kitt

Dear "How to stop the pain"(Sorry I don't know your real name),I know from bitter experience that anything positive anyone says to you when you feel so despairing, sounds meaningless. But here's my two cents worth. You sound despairing, and I really appreciate that, but you HAVE children, and you're still looking after them as best you can,and being there for them.Despite the horrors of depression, you are looking FORWARD to a time when you're kids will be grown(OK,you seem to see that as a time when you can finally be yourself, and give in to urges of self -harm,or worse) but nevertheless,it's a positive thing to be able to look forward to any future at all when everything seems so dark and pointless.Try and see this as a positive.
HOWEVER,in the short term, have you a doctor/therapist you feel comfortable with, one you can trust?Don't discount medication-----I wouldn't be writing this if it wasn't for the weird and wonderful chemical concoction that enables me to function(better some days than others).Be honest with your doctor about any wishes to self-harm or overdose---lots of my anti-depressant/anti-psychotic medication isn't lethal in even large doses,so that helps.
I'm sorry if I have in any way made you feel worse.I just wanted to say that I'm close to the point at which you seem to be,and I truly feel for you.
I send this with all good thoughts from a fellow sufferer.I wish you peace
