I work for a city government and have for 15 years. Last Friday they laid 70 people off and said it is just the first round. I think I am safe right now, but it sure is uneasy times when friends of yours in the organization are loosing their jobs. City Managment is going before City Council next week to outline where the next round is going to go. 2500 of the 4000 employees are police and fire so I know they are going to take a big hit in the presentation. I work for Utilities so feel somewhat protected because we are a big source of revenue for the city. The department manager made some organizational changes last January that really sent me into a deep downward spiral that I am just crawling out of. I don't want to go through that again. My relationship with my wife is still suffering from that episode.
We can respond to irritation with a smile instead of scowl, or by giving warm praise instead of icy indifference. By our being understanding instead of abrupt, others, in turn, may decide to hold on a little longer rather than to give way. Love, patience, and meekness can be just as contagious as rudeness and crudeness.

Hi Randy,

I could see where you would be somewhat nervous with this cutback. But as you said, you promote revenue so your job sounds stable.

Here's hoping that everything works out and you have nothing to worry about. I guess I would say take it one day at a time. I really think that things are going to be looking better for our future. I think that it will take time, but I think that the economy is going to get better.

I hope that this doesn't upset your wife, I am sorry that you two were having some problems. But hopefully things will be better.

Best wishes to you and yours,
Hugs, Karen
