Today is thanksgiving, I am spending this day without someone I hold dear to me, my brother. He is in the hospital, what happened is explained briefly in this newspaper for my neighborhood. http://www.northjersey.com/news/Investigators_to_examine_evidence_from_fatal_crash.html
My brother is the 14 year old boy in Hackensack University Hospital. I saw him for the first time yesterday since the accident, I refused to see him before because I was afraid he might look really beaten up, when I went yesterday I was so upset, I held his hand and it was limp and lifeless. He is on life support, the doctors said they would do one last test on him to see if his brain will respond, his brain has had no activity at all so far, The doctor said that if he doesnt move a hand, wake up or show some sign of life by Tomorrow or the latest saturday, he will be pronounced brain dead. When the doctor said these words I swore I felt my heart sink, my father was talking like he was already dead, showing the doctor pictures of him and saying , we did what we can do. It just isn't fair, I should have called him to tell him not to get in that car, My brother would have never gotten in that car unless his best friend Kevin was going there too, Kevin Beattie died. May he rest in peace. His other friend Dylan survived. For these next two days it is my brothers last chance at a fight for his life. What I am asking for here is prayers , even though you dont know him, just focus your strength on him and pray that he will wake up, just pray for Thomas, you dont know him and he doesnt know you, but please just pray for him please..it will make a difference please, everyone here, I need this more than anything and I dont know if that means anything but this is a small favor, just sneak in a prayer for him before your thanksgiving dinner. If you do this, it is greatly appreciated, note: you don't have to be religious, you can just hope for him if you cant pray.
Here is his most recent picture:

Beany,

You and your family must be going through a nightmare right now. I don't really know what to say to you, other than that I am thinking of you & hoping with all my heart that your brother will be ok. I am here if you need to talk! I have my fingers crossed that all will be ok!

Beany,

I will certainly pray for your brother. I am so sorry that this has happened and that you are going through so much right now. Please know that you and your brother are in my thoughts and my prayers.

I hope that your holiday is good and that you can enjoy it. I guess it is in God's hands right now. Thinking of you.

Hugs, Karen

I cant imagine the hurt and pain that you and your family must be suffering right now. I pray that your brother shows some kind of life signs. Always know that we will support you and those around you as best we can
Everyone has a guardian angel. They help pick you up when you fall, comfort you through your times of need and help you appreciate the times when things are going well.

Beany,

I am so very sorry that your brother is on life support and the outcome is looking bad. I will pray for him and for all of your family.

I know right now you want to blame yourself but this was not your fault, only God has the power to make a decision when someone belongs with him as his own special angel.

I understand so very well your pain.  I carry my own so know you are not alone.

Love

Kitt

Beany my heart goes out to you your family and the family of the other friend who was taken so young. We will most certainly keep Thomas in our prayers that he makes some small sigh that he is still there with you .
The pain you feel is one that just hurts so much but do not blame yourself ,your brother is in good hands and i`m sure everything that can be done is being done for him .
Take care and may god watch closely over Thomas .He is there with him holding his hand so do not be afraid .

Beany,

Good Morning.  By now you may already be at the hospital but please know my prayers are with you and I do know exactly how you feel.  Be brave but also remember it is ok to feel sad and cry. We are all surrounding you in a big group hug.

Yes your brother hears you when you speak to him.  Tell him what you want now and belief that he does hear you.  Touch him, hold his hand, stroke his forhead.  Touch  lets him know he is not alone.

Please keep us posted.

Gentle Hugs

Kitt

I wanted to thank everyone for you prayers, Tom has passed on to a better place. Yesterday I held his hand as he went up to the Lord, lets pray he makes it to heaven okay and doesn't lose his way, we kept his body here a while. Thankyou so much for your prayers im sure Tom knows how many people loved him and how many people wished for him to come back. I loved him and he looks over and loves us as well. I wanted to pray for Kevin Beatties family and that they are able to cope well with the pain and know that Tom and Kevin are in a better place with God. I love you Tom, I still have that basketball you gave me with the yankees on it, ill never let it go. I love you hunny.

Beany,

I am so sorry for the loss of your brother and his friend. Know that they are in a better place and probably together looking over you now.

It is hard to come up with the right words right now. Losing somebody who is so close is so difficult. Know that we are here for you.

You might want to consider some bereavement meetings or counseling to help you through this very difficult time. And remember we are here so post anytime.

Best wishes to you sweetie,

I am so sorry for your loss.

Luv and hugs, Karen

I want to add that I am glad that you were there when he left to the next life. He most likely gave you his strength.

Again so sorry for your loss. Just remember that he is watching over you now.
