Hey there, just go and see what it is about, you never have to tell anyone your personal thoughts unless you choose too.
Is the meeting run by a leader, a dedicated leader and structured.............that seems to be what most people need.
If you get really upset, then get up and leave, it is alright to check it out and change your mind.
Hugs to you

Hi Eli, I have attended DSBA support groups in my area. They are very nice people who attend and they will listen and try to offer you suggestions for possible help. They have a lot of literature you can take to read. Keep in mind that some of the people who go are parents of bipolar children ( usually adult children) and they go to the meetings to find out how to handle different situations with their chidren. I would defininetly go and see what it is all about. They usually have everyone introduce themselves and say why they have come. I have found the meetings very helpful and very supportive. So do go. If you decide it's not for you at least you have given it a chance. By the way this is a nationwide organization. You cal also look them up online. Hope this helps. Be sure to let us know how it goes. Take care.
One more mention, Eli, you do not have to talk if you don't want. All you really have to do is introduce yourself. And yes , these groups are run by someone who is the leader for the group, usually someone who has been doing this for a long time. Good Luck!
