I HAVE JUST JOINED YOUR CHAT GROUP AFTER READING SOME OF THE TOPICS. I CAN SURE USE SOME GOOD ADVISE ON THE NEW MEDICINE PRISTIQ. I AM 49 YEARS OLD AND I AM GOING THROUGH MENOPAUSE. I HAVE BEEN VERY DEPRESSED, NOT TO MENTION THE LONG NIGHTS OF WAKING UP SWEATING AND FINDING MY NIGHT CLOTHES WET. THEN I NOTICED MANY CHANGES DURING THE DAY WHILE AT WORK. MY NERVES HAVE BEEN ON THE EDGE FOR WEEKS NOW, MY EMOTIONS CRAZY!
I HAVE EVEN BEEN OVER EATING , THIS IS SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER DONE. SO NOW I AM BLESSED WITH 15 EXTRA POUNDS OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS.  I HAVE HAD A HISTORY IN THE PAST OF PANIC ATTACKS, SOME VERY SEVERE. NOW THEY TOO ARE VISTING ME FROM TIME TO TIME. THE LAST 3 WEEKS AT WORK I HAVE NOTICED THAT I WILL FEEL A HEATED FLUSHED FEELING COME OVER ME, I EVEN TURN RED WHEN IT HAPPENS. THEN I BEGIN TO BREAK OUT INTO A WET SWEAT. ENOUGH FOR OTHERS TO NOTICE. I DO NOT FEEL LIKE MY FUN SELF ANY MORE. MY DR. HAS HAD ME ON WELLBUTRIN XL FOR 2 YEARS OR MORE. I ALSO TAKE A CLONAZEPAM 0.5 MG  (GENERIC FOR KLONOPIN). THE DR SAYS TO TAKE THIS RX TWICE A DAY. I WENT TO THE DR. TODAY TO LET HIM KNOW I WAS FALLING APART. I TOLD HIM I DID NOT WANT TO TAKE ANY HM DRUGS. WAY TOO MANY RISK FOR ME. I HAVE HAD CERVICAL CANCER AND THERE IS HIGH BLOOD PRESURE & HEART ATACKS IN MY FAMILY. SO I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO ADD TO MY PROBLEMS. SO TODAY MY DR. TOLD ME about PRISTIQ. HE WAS VERY BUSY SO HE DID NOT HAVE MUCH TIME TO TALK TO ME about THIS DRUG. SO I TOLD HIM I WOULD TRY IT, AS I REFUSE TO TAKE HM DRUGS.
I HAVE TAKEN MY FIRST DOSE TONIGHT IN HOPES THAT I WILL FEEL BETTER SOON. I HAVE STOPED THE WELLBUTRIN , AS I CANT TAKE BOTH.CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN AT NIGHT OR DURING THE DAY. I NEED SLEEP , SO I HOPE THIS WILL NOT KEEP ME AWAKE.ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL. THANK YOU. confused

Hello Joytotheworld.

I am not familiar with pristiq. I think that I have read that it is like a generic for effexor. I am not sure, but if it is, I would take it during the daytime. I take effexor in the mornings and then again in the afternoon. Your doctor should tell you when to take it.

I want to welcome you to the forum. There are a lot of understanding people here. I am sure that some of them have had experience with the medication that you are wondering about.

We try not to post in all capital letters. It is thought of as shouting. Also it is hard to read. So I am sure that you will understand and type in lower case letters when appropriate. I thank you in advance.

I hope that you have a good evening and a wonderful day tomorrow.

hugs, Karen

It worked great for me, but my insurance will not cover it. After The Dr. started me on samples, worked wonderfully, begged him to keep the samples coming, but he ran out and we decided to switch. I have a friend that sees the same psych. and her insurance covers it. She loves how it works for her.
We can respond to irritation with a smile instead of scowl, or by giving warm praise instead of icy indifference. By our being understanding instead of abrupt, others, in turn, may decide to hold on a little longer rather than to give way. Love, patience, and meekness can be just as contagious as rudeness and crudeness.

Hello Joy,

Here is a link that will bring your up to date on Prestiq.  It should answer all your questions.  This is a new drug this year.  I hope it works for you.

Joy,

Thank you for understanding about the capital letters. I figured that you would. I hope that you are having a wonderful day.

Kitt gave you some very good information. I hope that it helps. I take 375mg of effexor a day. that is the highest dose. I also take abilify and it works very well with the effexor. When the patent is done on the effexor, I don't know if that means the price will come down. Luckily I have insurance, other wise it would be almost 700.00 a month for me, I don't make that much money.

Best of luck with the pristiq. I hope that it works for you. I have a feeling that it will.

Have a wonderful day. You are a nice addition to the forum. Thanks for all of the helpful posts.

Luv and hugs, Karen
