I have recently cut my coffee intake down.  Well what I did was start using 1/3 decaff and 2/3rds regular.  I noticed that my moods were improving.  I wan't as nervous as I was from all caffiene like I normally drank.  I drink coffee from the time I get up until I go to bed.  But since my nervousness is much less and my moods are better, my overall depression seems less.

Do you drink coffee?  And do you think that it adds to the depression?

I can't live without my coffee.  I also noticed the slight decrease in caffiene is helping my blood pressures.

Thanks Kitt,

I have always been a coffee drinker, I even drink it in the heat of summer. That is the Scandenavien (sp) blood in me. Started drinking it when I was just a kid.

Have a great day.

Hello,  my husband and I are coffee coniesseurs!  We thoroughly enjoy our coffee all through the day, any season of the year.  We are always looking for a new flavor of coffee or creamer; even drink iced coffee whenever it's blistering hot in the south.  We do drink decaf but usually go for the flavored kind.  I don't know if contributes to depression or not.  I know that if I don't have enough coffee in the morning I can't seem to get going.

i was a coffee drinker, as well as a coca cola addict. i had to eliminate caffeine from my life because it made me too jittery when combined with my meds. i now drink decaf coffee, and don't drink coke anymore. its helped with the tremors and agitation. didnt think i could do it, but i did!

I think that is great Eli,

There are so many benefits to stopping caffiene. I will gradually increase the decaf and cut back on the regular coffee. I have drank it since I was little so it has become a huge part of my life. But I do know I feel better when I have less.

You are probably going to think this is strange but I have never drunk coffee at all. When I first went away to college all the kids in the cafeteria were drinking coffee so I decided to try it and it made me really naseous and very jittery.  There is something about the oil in coffee combined with the caffeine that is what bothers me so I have gone more than 40 yrs without drinking any coffee. I drink decaffeinated tea and they make coke classic that is decaffeinated so I ocassionally drink that. And I can't take any meds that have caffeine in them.  So mostly I just drink water. It's cheap and there is plenty of it.
