I was diagnosed w/ MDD about 4 years ago. tryed lots of meds and got little to no result, except for a major weight gain and a zombie like domeiner. after consulting w/ my doc. tryed to just eliminate them all together. It worked for a while. I have been off my meds for 2 years and now things seem to be creeping back in.  I moved away from what has always been familular to me. Now my resources are little. The only thing I have is my boy friend, and he doesn't seem to be much help these days. but my bigest problem right now seems to be that I am always tired. It doesnt matter how much or how little sleep I get it is never enough. I do manage to get through my days. I work but that doesn't help much when I really have no one to talk to anyway. and that was how I got through it before, talking to ppl. Other than trying to chat here, any other sugestions?

Hi Angels,

Welcome to the HealingWell depression forum. It is so good to have you here.

Fatigue seems to go along with depression. I take adderall, but also have fibromyalgia. Without it all I would do is sleep.

Often exercise helps with fatigue. And walking. It gets the endorphines going which gives you energy.

If you want to go the medication route, I would talk to the doctor about that. But walking really helps me and so does exercise. I also meditate and that seems to perk me up when I am tired in the evenings. But doesn't keep me awake when I need to sleep. It actually helps with that too.

Have you tried counseling?  That always helps when you need somebody to talk to.  There is also a free site that offers help.

This is totally free and a lot of people have said that it has helped them.

Best wishes for a wonderful day.

Hugs, Karen

Angels,
Hi! Welcome. You mentioned you're sleeping all the time. Have you had any blood work done recently? It could be anemia, low B12, low TSH, or hormone imbalance.
Going to the doc is always best. If you can't afford a regular doc, are there any free clinics around that you could get checked out at? I know some women can get assistance for a well-woman exam through Planned Parenthood (they can also get you free birth control if your fatigue is due to a hormone imbalance -- that was my problem). If that still doesn't work, maybe you can find some information on-line about increasing iron or B-12 in your diet. I think it's pretty hard to overdose on iron if it's just in your food, but I know you have to be very careful with iron supplements plus they can sometimes cause stomach upset. Drinking more water can also give you more energy. I'm really bad about that & end up dehydrated a lot b/c I don't absorb salt like normal people so I have to drink extra water. Uggghhh! I hate drinking so much water, but it does give me more energy to face the day. :)

Karen had a great idea about trying to get a little exercise in. Other than that, is there something you can do to meet people? I know bars are out of the question when funds are low, but maybe you could try attending a religious function, joining a book club at the local library, getting involved in a neighborhood organization or local women's guild, or (my favorite) volunteering. There are lots of great ways to meet people & everyone is short on funds these days so it seems like people who wouldn't normally get involved in those kinds of things are now looking into them.

And of course, you can always come here to talk. :)

take care,
frances

Hi Angel,

Welcome to HealingWell.  I am sorry you are starting to feel the depression creeping back in.

Please do not isolate yourself.  Karen has given you a great resource.  Do take a look at it.

Exercise is especially helpful, so try to get out of the house for regular walks. Listen to usic, be good to yourself and remember if you have moved that is a major stressor in your life.

Give yourself lots of credit for coming here and talking to us.

We care.
Kitt

thank you everyone for your sugestions. A close friend of mine had sugested this sight for just my situation. Since I am sorta 'isolated' in my new environment. I am about 100 miles away from my friends and much more away from my family. I thought that i may just have some luck talking, chatting, and sharing thoughts and ideas with people who at least understand what my body +/or mind goes though.
thank you all so much for being here.
I hope to chat w/ some of you in the chat rooms.
