Hi Folks

Still have not beaten back this current bout of depression. Lost my cat of 16 years yesterday which made me feel even worse. I cry so often.

I cut back from 450mg of nefazadone (serzone) to 100mg but went back to 200mg when cat got very ill. I did this 4 days ago. Doctor wants me off the nefazadone then on to lexapro 10mg a day.

I wonder if I can just cut to 100mg Serzone and then switch? I am anxious to change as the nefazadone seems to have lost it's "kick"

Anyone on both? is this unsafe? I see doctor Monday but am anxious to start if I'll not get sick from the 2 medications at one time

I am on 500mg of serzone every day and have been for years. I also take celexa 40mg in the am . I am doing quite well on it and don't plan to change because it has been very difficult to find a drug that works for me in the past. Why are you switching, by the way??

Hi Theswan,

I think that it is time for you to find something that works for you. I would talk to the doctor about this and see what they say. There are many antidepressants out there that you could try,. I know that it sounds frustrating, but in the end it is worth it.

Best wishes and good luck to you.

Keep posting.

Hugs, Karen

Thanks Karen

Yeah I hope we find what works. He wants me on Lexapro which worked OK maybe two years ago. I guess it is worth a try. I just don't think it would hurt to try them both if Im at 100-200mg only of Nefazadone.

I was annoyed that he had me on 450mg and told me it was the max dose. It is not! 600mg is.

I mean use caution, sure but I'm suffering here. It's easy for him to be cautious while I wait and wait for real relief. I know that pills are not magic but darn it this is not something I can just snap out of!

Thanks again

Glen

Hi Glen,

Yeah, people seem to think that we can just 'snap out of it'. Not true....

I hope that the doc finds what works for you. I hope that it doesn't take too long. It is hard when we are on this end of it, waiting for something to work and suffering in the meantime.

Let us know how things go for you. I will be anxious to hear.

I hope that you have a nice day.

Hugs, Karen

My third day

I felt a little "woozy" but still have energy and less deoression. It is kinda weird but the profound saddness I had over the loss of my cat is not as acute.

I don't want to "borrow" trouble but hope I'm not "blunted" by the lexapro. Could just be the fact that I grived so hard and prayed for relief.
