hi all, i live with depression, along with a seperate psychiatric disorder, depressed over twenty years. I am male and my dog buttons is my rock. I too need to see about newer meds as the Effexor has run its course, three times over. Thank you to the admin for allowing me to be a member. I look forward to sharing with you all. Hi Jamiee,

Welcome to HealingWell depression forum. I also take effexor. I take 375mg each day. Can you have yours increased? I also take abilify along with it and it has really helped me. Maybe you should speak to your doctor about that.

I hope that you feel better soon. Sorry it took me so long to get with you, but I had a doctor's appointment today and just got back. Keep your chin up and stick with us. Everybody here is very kind and understanding.

Take care, keep posting,
hugs, Karen

thanks karen, i too have been on abilify in the past, yes it is very helpful, forgot about that. thankx for the info. yeah, going back on abilify may be the answer. currently 300mg effexor and 900-1050 seroquel at night. i have come off a lot of meds, xanax, the dreaded largactil, olanzapine, serapax etc. the other disorder i have is severe borderline personality disorder. that coupled with the depression is a big basket of washing, although i did get accepted into a inpatient program in 04 to learn the techniques to manage this difficult condition. i am doing my best, mindfulness practice helps, as does getting out of the house! the fur ball (buttons) and i do at least ten ks a day, helps with the diabetes, being stressed and severly depressed compounds this.

thankx for listening.

take care everyone.

regards jamiee smilewinkgrin

I still take xanax. My sister takes seroquel. She says it helps her. You sound like you are doing well. I am so happy for that. Keep up the good work. And keep posting here. This is a good place.

Hugs, Karen

Hello Jaimee,

Welcome to Healing Well and I hope to get to know you much better.  You have gone through a long list of meds.........I have been down that same road.  I am hearing such good things about abilify that I will be talking to my Pdoc about the med.

You do have a tough disorder with a BPD as I have 2 friends with that very dx.  With all the support and help of the wonderful members I hope we can make your life feel better.

Again a warm welcome to you.
