So everything is going really well for me right now! I have absolutely no reason to not be happy & I feel happy a lot of the time, but sometimes a discontentedness creeps in for no reason - why can't I just feel relaxed and contented like other people do?!

Hi Li :-)

Maybe instead of being able to enjoy your peace and happiness, you are worried and anxious about that happiness being taken away from you? Try to remember that life is ups and downs of emotion, struggles and success. In wanting to be "cured" of my depression, I sometimes fall into the mindset that once things get better, they will stay better, and for the most part this is true, because a big part of coming out of depression is being better able to handle the pitfalls of life. But I have to constantly remind myself that feeling happy all the time isn't normal for anyone, and that I will still have my sad days too. It's just being able to handle those sad times and knowing things will turn around again is the new goal.

Smile because you're a beautiful soul and life is good!

Hi Li,

As Nightwish said, we can't always be happy. I use to have a problem of when I was happy and having a good time, this feeling of doom would come over me. It was from never being allowed to be happy before. So I had to get over that. Maybe something like that is happening to you. Try to kick these feelings to the curb and enjoy your life. You deserve it, you are a wonderful person.

Hey there my friend, it has been awhile. Those of us blessed with depression wish with all our hearts that we could be happy as the sadness is so painful.  Soemtimes it is the medication that blunts our feelings.  Other times it is situations.

Remember to stay in the moment.

It's really important for myself to be able to stay in the moment. I have found that by avoiding things like dwelling on past mistakes or worrying about the future I am usually able to get done what needs to get done when it needs to get done.

Within the past couple of days I keep finding myself not staying in the moment. I am reacting to a situation that happened on Monday and I am running it over and over in my head.  I need to throw out that thought and stay in the moment.

If you can learn to stay present in the moment then you can rapidly and gracefully change your life for the better!

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.
