I have been worrying about my dad, and his back, since it's been bothering him a lot lately. I just got off the phone with him, and he told me that he was in the ER last night. I'm glad they didn't tell me then, cuz I would have flipped, but he was having symptoms of a heart attack-pain into his shoulder and arm. He has a heart condition, so my mom basically made him go to be safe.

All is well though. I couldn't handle it if it was a heart attack. It turns out that since his lower back has been hurting, he's been compensating and thus hurt his upper back, and has a pinched nerve. They gave him stronger pain meds (he was taking Lortab and it wasn't helping) and he's at home comfortable now.

The thought of him in the ER with heart attack symptoms frightens me so much...my hands are shaking now. Poor Dad! cry

On top of it, I woke up throwing up at 2:30 in the morning. (this is an ongoing thing with my crohn's)

I hope the rest of the day gets calmer.

Just needed to vent to all my friends here! :-)
Thanks for listening!

Hi Becky,

I am so happy that your father didn't have a heart attack and I hope that his back gets better.

Now it is time for you to relax. Take a few deep breaths and try to take your mind off of it now. You don't need the added stress. And remember that he is okay, and like you said resting comfortably.

Maybe if you go and visit him, you will feel better resting assured that he is alright. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs, Karen

Becky,

I am grateful that your Father did not have a heart attack.  I am not happy to hear you are throwing up.  Was the emesis from the Crohn's Disease or stress?

Please do take care of you and know we care.

Peace,
Kitt

Kitt,
It's an ongoing thing, and my GI is aware of it....we're working on a solution, but for now, little meals is the key, and I guess I ate a little too much a little too late last night.

I am much more calm now. After talking to Dad I took a clonazepam and napped. My dad and I are both feeling better now. He's resting, and taking the better pain meds the ER gave him (good because Lortab wasn't cutting it)

Thanks for your support!

Becky:  I too am glad that your father is okay and that you are also doing much better now.  I am also finding that I am getting more fearful as my parents are getting older.  I guess that makes us appreciate them that much more.

Keep hanging in there with everything going on right now.  And also know that I truly appreciate the support you have been providing me.

Cass
