So, I want to know what you guys think about energy drinks....and those who are addicted to them.

I used to never drink...didnt desire to, never had one though. Anyways, people would bring them to school and drink them before school started. We would stop and get one and my friends would pass it around before school cause they didnt want a whole one. Anyways, a friend gave me one once and it was actually okay.

Anyways, I started getting them every now and then. Rarely really... but lately I have been getting them everyday. I realize that I have an addictive personality, to everything, not just energy drinks... I DO know the affects and how bad they are. I probably AM addicted to them, but I would assume if I didnt have the money to buy one then I simply wouldnt, no big deal. I dont think I would freak out or something cause I cant have one! Ya know..... but I understand the dangers. They really dont seem to affect me much...at least I dont really notice anything. I just think they taste good. (some of them anyways, some are HORRIBLE!) I like to try different ones also....just for a different taste....

So, anyone else have this problem? Or know someone who does? Any thoughts?

Hi Christi,

Yes it is possible to get addicted to them. They have a ton of caffiene and/or ephedrine in them. The one thing that you will notice if you stop drinking them, you will get a headache, that is the withdrawal symptom of caffiene.

Just be careful, there are risks to the heart. Just don't drink too many of them at a time.

Best wishes to you.

Hugs, Karen

Thanks Karen, did you get my email? I think I replied to you last night, but I really cant remember! lol

Its very possible to become addicted to them. One time I quit caffiene cold turkey and had a headache for a week, but nothing I couldnt handle.... I cant afford many of them at one time! lol Which is a very good thing! Luckily Im broke.... so... its one habit I shall attempt to give up!

Oh absolutely. I started drinking these things when I graduated high school, staying up all night and partying, and I loved them. Monster, BooKoo, SoBe, those were my favorites. I drank one every single day for at least three years, sometimes even two if I was feeling tired by the nighttime but had plans to go out. Then I started getting weird palpitations from time to time and any day I would skip drinking an energy drink I would get severe migraines. So it took awhile but I started drinking only half a drink, and then drinking one every other day, and spaced them out until now I don't drink them anymore, or very rarely. They do taste good, my new favorite is the blue AMP'd. But they certainly don't help with anxiety so that's another thing to consider.
