Ok everyone here is my problem My mom has lung cancer she has had it for almost 2 years last summer she had most of her left lung removed she had went threw Chemotherapy and ration which worked great for the first 9 or so months well now the cancer has come back into our lives. My mom has been going to Chemo and ration again 5 days a week for 10 weeks she has once again lost most of her hair and has been really weak. now Im 27 years old but also have a younger brother who is only 8  doctors says that there is only a 25% chance that this treatment is going to work!
what am I going to do ? What is my little brother going to do? I dont live with my mom Im on my own but she is within driving distance I try and see her every week but it dont always happen I find myself trying to block out the fact that she has cancer and she may die but the last few nights have been really hard for me I always but on a strong face in front of her never show that Im worried but the truth is Im scared to death.
what do I do?

First of all you need to slow down and relax. Take this one step at a time. Is there a prognosis yet?

My first husband died of lung cancer. This wont all be on you to make decisions. There will be other family members involved. Do you have any aunts or uncles? Grandmother or grandfather? Are there other sibllings?

It isn't easy, that is for sure, but when things like this happen, you seem to find strength. And I know that you will. You will figure out what to do when and if the time comes. So lets keep praying for your mother and see what happens. But there will be help.

Keep having faith.

Hello and Welcome Riveria,

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom.  I come from a long family history of Cancer and I have lost my Father to Pancreatic Cancer when I was 39 years old.

When I found out he had cancer my heart broke but I did as you are doing, I was there for him as much as I could be but I only had 2 weeks as he never left the hospital from the time he went to surgery until he was gone.

However I now have a sister with ovarian cancer which is another nasty cancer but the medications and fight against cancer has come so far since my Father died that  people dx with these nasty cancers are surviving much longer.

We brought my sister to the U of MN Hospitals where they have wonderful teams for the different cancers.  When we admitted her on 8/13 the day after she was dx in North Dakota we did not think she would make it through the night...........she was in total system failure.............to make a long story short, she had 6 months of chemo and now had her surgery and is doing great.  I know now that there is always hope and you just have to go slow, one day at a time.

For today just think of your Mom and be sure she has the best medical care possible...............the rest will fall into place.

I understand your fears and your concerns, so please know you are in my prayers.

Kitt
