Wish me luck!!!

Been coming of Lofepramine for a week now, reducing down to 70mg today. In 2-3 days my psych will be sending out a letter to me and Gp (as docs always claim they haven't recived a letter, then I have to get all nasty and aggressive which I hate!!)
So, then I'll be stopping my Lofepramine and going on.....drum roll......Trazodone!

Will this be the one? I hope so, I cannot keep going on like I am doing. I'm in a dangerous state and it actually terrifies me, but have no clue how to pull myself out of it.
So I have my fingers very crossed for the Trazodone to work.

Again, not checking out ANY side effects to this until about a week in. Paul has looked up side effects so knows what to look for in me, but this means I can't have phantom symptoms just from reading the side effects list. Anything that goes wrong will be the meds, not my head making things up.

Hopefully, after stopping the Lofepramine, my heart will settle down a bit soon. It is still being so jumpy and fluttery. And hopefully the extra nightmares I've been having will calm down.

Also, started Tramadol for pain, to go with Nefopam and Paracetamol. It's almost laughable that nothing works-well it would be if it wasn't so painfull.

Will update on Trazodone when I get it. I know it doesn't exite you, but it makes it better for me to post these things....

Hi Darkies Gem,

Good luck - I wish you the very best on this, and hope it is the ticket you're looking for. That's really wise not to look up the side effects right away! I know exactly what you mean about the head games, etc.. It's best sometimes not to know these things in advance, and to have someone else keep track for you. Fingers crossed!

that is very wise, as the previous person stated about not looking up the side effects. the mind can fool us into believing what we read on those bottles. I hope that this is the med that can help you out for good. I can tell you don't quit very easy, that's what will get you better.

Hello my Sweet Gems,

Join the Trazodone club........whoooo hooooooo.  I use this med for sleep and it has worked like a charm for me.  I take it low dose at 100mg at bedtime.

It is a drug you want to ease on to but I have had little to no side effects.  Once in awhile I will take 150 mg as I have a range I may use and I have noticed a bit of "hang over effect" the next day.

My physician suggested that I try 125 mg instead if I feel  I need a boost............dah how dumb am I.  I never thought of cutting a 50mg tab in half.  blush

I hope and pray this is the med for you.  You deserve to finally get the relief you need.  You know I  am here and you know my email is always open.

Love ya Gems,

Kitt

Ease onto them huh Kitt........

Someone really should have given me really brightly coloured boxes. Just got them today. Just took my first dose........Forgot that there were 2 different dose boxes, even though the pharmascist did quite clearly instruct me, and even wrote on the boxes to remind me. I'm an idiot!

Anyway, so rather than my first dose being 50mg, it's ended up being 100mg. I don't think it will kill me. I'm only panicking because I only had my last dose of Lofepramine last night so obviously that's still going to be in my system too. I'm guessing there also may have been a reason my psych wanted me to start of slowely on the 50mg for a week before going up a dose.

Ah well, never mind-she's off now till next week sometime-so not point in worrying myself about it-unless I get any major huge symptoms. Then I can always ring NHS direct.

Well, I'm off to bed now as my eyes are already drooping ready for sleep, and got other meds and neb to take yet. Yes, I'm thick enough not to have thought that through either.....Take the drowziness causing meds before remembering theres loads more i need to do, that I need to be awake for.
Niiight, will let you know how they go, and whether I actually manage my nebs tonight. I'm just so desperate for a good nights sleep!

Strange,

even though I spent the whole night glued to the bed not able to open my eyes and totally lethargic, I got not a lot of sleep.
Then I woke with a bit of a cold starting.

Yesterday the cold got even worse. So I've got a full blown cold, with a maths exam today that I am going to fail.
Did have Trazadone at proper 50mg dose last night, but didn't even sleep a wink because everytime I started drifting off I couldn't breathe which kept waking me back up.

Advice-never have a chest infection, start new meds, then get a huge streaming cold on top of it.

Sorry I've not been around much, Christi especially, I wanna reply to you, but don't have the energy to know what to say. Over the last few days, I've just gone back to being zoned out after a few days of bouncing around happy for a few days prior to feeling yuck again. Hope everyone is ok!

Right must go get bathed and ready and caffinated.

Hey Gems,

That is a low dose of Trazodone........I take 100 mg for sleep and can take up to 150mg.  If you do increase the dose go slow as you can get a Trazodone hangover.  I got one once and it is just a foggy feeling.  LOL, I feel foggy on a good day .

I am sorry to hear you have the nasty URI.  I caught another sore throat and stuffed up head from the munchkins at school.

You will ace your test becuase I know you and you are wise way beyond your years so put that dang cold on hold while you take your exam.

Know I am here for you and that I love you my sweet Gems.

Hugs
Kitt

How on Earth I managed that I do not know. I literally just guessed at about half the questions on that exam. Was in threat of falling asleep through it...........But I passed!!!!!!

Now Im going to go rest and thank god I have only one exam to go at some point which should be an easy one (its computer word processing....easy).

Thankyou for your thoughts.
Jamie- yes coffee is awsome especially cappacinno coupled with 6 sugars and squirty cream and sprinkly chocolate stuff. Got me a special coffee at college as I got there an hour early.
Kitt-yes it is lowest dose really isn't it. I like my psych for this-means I get to realise problems at lowest dose. Not like with lofepramine where within a week and a half I went from high dose Remeron to high dose Lofepramine. I'm still sure that could have maybe been crossed over a bit slower. I'm very glad this time things have gone a lot slower-gives me a chance to actually adjust

Trazodone goes up in 6 days. I'm gonna have all 50mg tablets now, then go onto 100mg tablets. Psych is phoning Monday I think to check up. Hopefully cold will have gone by then, so I will know what is making my head fuzzy. It could just be the cold-I've felt worse than this with a cold before.

Right I'm off to bed, have another attempt at this whole sleep thing. I'm shattered!! Night all!

Hi Gems,

I am glad that you are getting your medications straighten out and adjusted. I basically wanted to touch base with you and say hello. I hope that you got a good nights rest and are having a good day.
